The mana inkwell does work it just can't create a new research table, but can make new research and scribble aspects. you need mana pools set to sparing and toss them on for a sec.

It's not the creating the inkwell that's not working. Using it doesn't work. If you make the inkwell, you can't research in Thaumcraft. And if you don't have feathers, you can't make a new Scribing Tools.

edit: my bad, didn't notice that you have to toss it twice on the mana pool, to fill it with ink...

Yeah, that is on purpose. I will be removing it from the Curse Voice shortly as well. It turns out the tank tube and possibly anything else that handles fluids from that mod can cause unrecoverable world corruption. It never received the update after the Forge fluid fix and, yeah. I need to find a fix for that. I'm sorry if it has impacted your world, but I figured losing a few items was a much better alternative than possibly ruining the world.

It was a last minute edit emergency edit so it didn't make the changelogs.

Ahhh! Fortunately I didn't do anything besides craft some plastic with it. Beta is beta. I just wasn't sure if that was intended. Thanks for the reply!

I'm experiencing some weirdness in biome changing using Ethereal Bloom and silverwood nodes. Some blocks change, while others remain the same biome until I restart the client.

Don't rely on Journey map, it takes a bit to update. F3 will be more accurate.

I mean F3, and visual appearance of the grass blocks.

I replaced Journey map with Opis, btw.

There seems to be some sort of biome change priority with Thaumcraft. For instance, I have a magical forest within my render chunks distance. I wanted to expand the land around it to be a little safer and expand it into a full farm. My bloom started immediately changing the Magical Forest biome into Plains. Needless to say, I removed the bloom quickly, but the Plains have stayed plains since.

It seems that the biome change from the Bloom automatically replaces all other biomes when it's placed. There may be a way of coming back through and placing a pure node after the fact to change it back, but I honestly don't know.

Also, the other forms of biome changes may fix the issue after the fact... There's not a lot of info out there on how this works specifically, only that Taint is spread from Tainted nodes and flux build-up and no other way.

You can always cheat the system with backup programs, but I HIGHLY recommend actually playing it on Hardcore and not relying on backup-scumming. After you understand some of the mechanics and what you need to do on the first day to accelerate your underground survival it's not that hard to get a stable base going and start expanding into the more difficult areas from there.

Maybe these pics will illustrate the biome change issue I'm having.

This one shows the stuck tainted biome blocks that will not change no matter how many hours I will play:

As soon as I restart the client, boom. Instant plains biome where it's supposed to be:
vzuKIy9.png

This is going to be annoying if I'll have to restart every time I plant the blooms.

I'd say just ignore it. If they're there instantly on a world restart, then the biomes were always there, and just didn't show up for you. Not much you can do about that bit ignore it.

Well, that is weird, but there isn't much I can do unfortunately. That sounds like a Thaumcraft bug and needs to be reported to Azinor.

So how is everyone dealing with tornadoes? The weather deflector is way late game, and I'm sick of my hole in the ground.

You can go exploring, etc, before you get the Deflector. Just don't place anything you want to keep above ground.

Just discovered the Temporal Multi-tool, this thing rocks :) It works with everything, tools, botania rods, thaumcraft bags.

It also destroys all the stuff you put into it, if you use it in a crafting grid. I incerted a Botania Mortar and Pestle, and crafted some Floral Powder. Now the tool is stuck forever as Mortar and Pestle...

Yeah, there is a warning about that in the book. It relies on NBT data. Anything that changes one of the tools is likely to wipe the NBT data...and well, oops.

Is Nether generation significantly altered? It's a plains like landscape of Netherrack and I can't find soul sand nor glowstone anywhere.

I did find a fortress full of Netherwart and stole that soul sand, got my blaze rods, etc, and used Witchery to get my first piece of Glowstone (which I'm currently duping using Thaumcraft), but I figured the nether would be riddled with it (as it usually is).

I suppose I should go back and see what the ceiling is like.

@Iskandar MAJOR lag when Blazes spawn and start shooting. In contrast I don't experience lag at any other time with 0.1.0 or 0.0.5, even with everything set to max (fairly powerful PC). It didn't seem to be a rendering issue either as turning off all the particle effects, lowering the chunk distance way down, and switching over to fast graphics marginally helped.

Glow stone can be gotten via Botsnia alchemy as well. And I've seen the blaze shooting lag, too. Not sure why that is, but I'm looking into it.

I finally died. This may be a good time to share my impressions so far.

Overall it's rather easy to survive. No mobs spawning anywhere, it's almost like peaceful mode. The taint swarms are avoidable and easy to deal with. The starting apples last such a long time that it's trivial to set up an underground farm and never starve.

I like the implementation of various mods and their documentation. Even as a complete newcomer to Thaumcraft and Clockwork Phase, I could figure out most of the stuff without external help. This is the first modpack I've seen where you can explore the mods without having to read a bunch of guides or watch someone else play and repeat what they do. The starting book is great, just enough hints to keep the discovery process interesting, without the issues of HQM.

As a first playthrough without knowing the tricks and efficient progression paths, the progress was slow, painfully slow. Now that I know what to do, I still can't help but wonder how many will have the patience for this. If someone can only play a few hours per week, this is probably not the best pack to try... I don't know if there's going to be any rebalancing, but it would be nice to reduce the grind a bit.

The weather is the worst part of this modpack imo. Really, what is the point of that. At first it was cool to see unsuspecting witches being picked up by a tornado, but that wore off eventually. You completely avoid it by making an underground base, all it does is prevent you from building a house, unnecessarily limiting our options. You give us Chisel and Carpenter's blocks, and Ancient Trees, and then force us to live in underground dirtholes. I spent most of my surface time boringly climbing a ladder up and down. The weather deflector is gated so much into the end game, that by the time you build one you are probably not going to do much on the surface anyway. Maybe it could be improved a bit.

I think dynamic lights causes lag with there fireballs, if i turn it off with the hotkey i can fight blazes smoothly.
