I don't think I like SFM. This mod is an interesting experiment, but configuring blocks behaviour using their own interface and routing using pipes is more intuitive than using SFM's unwieldy interface.
It's true potential shines when you don't have logistic pipes and you want to make a simple supplier system, you want to do something inventive or interesting, and you want very very fast no lag transfer. SFM isn't for everyone. It's extremely powerful, moreso than alot of other things because you can control so much of the nuances of things. I've attempted to use SFM primarily in the playthrough I'm doing now. There are times where I've used TE cause it would be stupid to setup an entire sfm network for a simple connect..

Another thing is it makes very tight and compact setups since you can just leave a power (if needed) and the sfm cable which can be buried under machine. Plus it'll do autocrafting and you can setup multiple cable types into one to get alot of the functionality in one single block (redstone emitter, receiver, etc...) check out the video for the sfm sieve. it's truly mind blowing how fast that thing goes. I'd say it's twice as fast than even having 3 activators on the side of a sieve.

that just means modpack makers can't put in packs. he wants to contain this so it's not out there for the uninitiated. so, yeah, it's a good thing. It's what 1.7.10 should be. don't know why mojang would cripple MC like they did.
OH ! I get it now. They crippled 1.7 to attract microsoft since they can sniff out other companies making software like they do, thus wanted to buy them. It ALL makes sense now. Notch, you are very very sneaky.

Maybe if it were possible to color code blocks it would be easier to program SFM...
In 1.7.10 there are tooltips with adjacent blocks, and if the block is a sign you can read the text.

Hey everybody i need help Iskandar has gone crazy over all the ppl playing his Pack he wants to compleatley redo CL1 on 1.7

Sorry I'm late to this sub-thread, but I'll throw in my 2 cents.

I have read every post in this thread (yes really!). In the last 20 pages there are only half a dozen reports of "it won't work" and I would hazard a guess that they are most likely related to a bad download or a completely b0rked system (1.6.4 will not work well with Java 1.8 for instance).

The few unresolved bugs in 1.6.4 are trivial and simple for players to work around. All that's required is a little documentation somewhere (preferably in-game) so users know what to do and maybe some more tweaked recipes. And move the starting location into the spawn chunks, that's probably the worst bug I've seen across all versions of CL.

I have investigated 1.7.10. I am itching to build a 1.7.10 tech plus Thaumcraft world, and I have built myself a simple test pack. So many mods are still alpha quality. TE and AE2 are game breakers. Utility mods are flaky as anything (InvTweaks, NEI). I reckon it'll be 3 months before 1.7.10 is stable enough for a platform like CL.

I deleted my test pack and started a new CL 1.1.2.1 world and it is fast and stable and has not CTD'd once :)

IMHO, the only viable option is to finish CL1 in 1.6.4, and perhaps leverage the new-found popularity of the pack to try to wrangle a couple of bug fixes from mod developers. Then build CL2 in 1.7.x aiming to have the pack go public in about 4 months, once 1.7.x mods are stable and feature-complete.

I will also add @Iskandar, that I have no doubt the user experience over the next 4 months will be much better in a 1.6.4 CrashLanding than a 1.7.10 CrashLanding.

For those talking about Mekanism's 5x ore processing, bear in mind that's designed to work on ore blocks. You know, the ones that spawn during worldgen? We kinda don't have those ^_^;
MFR's Mining Lasers will produce these ore blocks. And building these will also make turbines actually useful.

I made a fertilizer, placed it, powered it, but haven't used it once yet. It's going pretty damn strong no matter what I do, driving my freaking fps down as well :) errr :( definately :( :)

Most of the lag from harvesters is from the sounds which can be disabled in the config, have you tried that?

I am curious about something I noticed with regard to seeds for Pam's Harvestcraft foods.

I have so far started about eight worlds of CL and every time the variety of seeds I can get by either sifting dirt or bone-mealing grass seems reduced - aka less then what I am used to from my Agrarian Sky play-throughs.

I have no problem getting all the trees and berry bushes plus rhubarb, rice, sea weed, sun flower, white mushrooms and peanuts (once), but I have never got anything like tomatoes, lettuce, broccoli... I have also never got any soy beans ( and am still unsure, whether they were nerfed in the last update)

I mean, it is not impotant as such for my survival or progress. I just really like playing with the whole variaty of Pam's Harvestcraft and was curious, whether this is intended or I am just in a really strange seed distribution phase space - because I have invested A LOT of bone meal and dirt in this. :)

The Harvestcraft seeds you can get from each type of sifting are listed in NEI. The rest you can get from hoeing and/or bonemealing grass blocks.

You most likely get those plants when using bone meal on grass...
To get the other seeds you need to use a mattock on grass blocks. Be carefull there is no water nearby otherwise it will till the ground but you will get no seeds.

@Iskandar I just want to throw my opinion in on the 1.7 issue as someone in software development and interactive games design. As you know 80% of the cost and time of developing a game or software is maintenance. If that maintenance becomes severely hindered by unfixable bugs or errors it's going to come to a point where it's not worth salvaging. If you can see that this is going to happen I completely agree with moving on. Add the extra quests for the story (I would really like an SFM questline and I would be happy to help with quest and dialogue ideas), give the map an ending and start fresh.

While you are finishing off CL start thinking about what you want to do in CL2. Check for mods that work, their interactions with 1.7 and look for alternatives. Plan it out, have a list of goals and expected outcomes. Think about the setting, progression, and gameplay mechanics you want. Then when it comes time to start developing on 1.7 you will have a solid plan.

When you do start to develop in 1.7 don't just re-do CL as we know it (this is why I said to finish the map). As many have said an ice planet or even space would be amazing. If you are going to change MC versions start completely fresh. That way you won't have to try and make something that works in 1.6 work in 1.7. You have the freedom to change and people will be more likely to accept it. E.g: TE ducts don't work? Add in EIO or something similar.

You most likely get those plants when using bone meal on grass...
To get the other seeds you need to use a mattock on grass blocks. Be carefull there is no water nearby otherwise it will till the ground but you will get no seeds.

Of course! Completely forgot about the mattock thing. M)

hey everybody iv gotten great responces to this and want more so im reposting thanks to all that have replied

hey everybody i need help Iskandar has gone crazy over all the ppl playing his Pack he wants to compleatley redo CL1 on 1.7 this will take at least 2 months that means atleast 2 months befor work on CL2 can start but if he finishes it on 1.6 then he can be done in about a month or less then start on CL2 and the reason for this is because theres a few bugs he cant fix heres a bit from our talks

Yeah. The biggest issue is HQM. It is misbehaving for a small, bug growing amount of people. It refuses to auto start on new maps, which even the devs can't figure out. Then there is water problems. Ugh. Let me get to my computet

shane: ok well lets see HQM the sign in the ship helps with that as to chisel you could make note of this in the Grinder quest plus you could post both of theas on the OP padge of the forum and Create a bugs page on the website for ppl to look for known bugs and posable fixes. Water well if ppl are going to cheat there going to cheat no mater what you do. TE not much to do there.
and Sync all you need do is ether add a cheap chunk loader or when you update the map start it with the Cities and Lone Building off but leave the dunes then explore about 700 block aroun spawn then start the structures this way you can have the shuttle at the true spawn which is auto loaded and not worry about cities being to close or being pregegerated me id do both that way if someone wants a clone somwhere other than spawn they can set a chunk loader an not worry about falling through the world

Iskandar: Yeah, but the answer to these bugs really shouldn't be either ignore or work around it. When the pack was small, yeah, but with tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands playing it now the answer to these bugs really needs to be "ok, I'll pass that along to be fixed" not "I'm aware and I can't do anything about it" And, again, HQM is really beginning to worry me. It isn't behaving correctly, and it is central to my pack. I need the damn thing to work and in a growing number of cases it isn't.


My responce to this is to so long as ppl know about the bugs and dont have look through 300+ padges to learn about it then they wont care about a few bugs so create a bug link on the new website listing known bugs and possible solutions.

pass this on to as many ppl as you can i want Iskandar to know ppl love his pack the way it is and they dont want to wait over 2 months for CL2

OK for all those asking about FastCraft well i have a store bought hp Pavilion from 2007 in 1.6 i avrage 30-40 fps iv started playing a modified version of the Bevo Tech Pack Light when i first loged in i was at 2-5 fps instaled optifine and got my fps up to 20-25 notgreat but playable then i heared about FastCraft and desited to try it now so long as im not near my shop im back to 30-40fps so it does help. So my advice for anyone with a low end PC tring to run 1.7 is to use both optifine and FastCraft

Make sure you have a good way of funneling mobs so you can get LOTS of bones every day. Not only can Bone + Pot + Bowl get you Stock (which you can eat), but Stock can be combined with Rice to get Rice Soup. It can also be combined with just about any 2 veggies (can be the same veggie) to make Garden Soup, which means that just about any veggie seed is another type of food.

Additionally, don't forget the spider eye soup recipe. Seed soup is 1 non-rice seed + stock + pot. You can make apple trees with apple + oak sapling. Punch instead of right clicking the fully grown rice/other planted stuff to get additional seeds to make a larger garden faster.

If a sequel was done and it included Galacticraft you could make the game a skyblock and start the user off in Orbit of the planet in whats left of the spaceship.

Perhaps with some sort of time limit on the spaceship that means you ultimately have to throw yourself off in to the void to plummet down to the earth, where you then have to start out with whatever you managed to bring with you.

On the planet you could find the quest book and possibly be on the edge of a city with little to no spawners in the "landing area"

Once on the planet your primary mission is to recover enough materials to allow you to return to the remains of the orbiting ship (I suggest TNT to leave remains) requiring you to have built oxygen generation and materials for safely surviving on the ship. Of course once there you could then have a series of quests to fix up the spaceship.

This is of course one option.

Another could be a crash landing on a small desert island in the middle of a massive limitless ocean of salt water, so suddenly the water that was in such short supply in the original is now limitless, but you still can't drink it.

A mob spawning alternative mod would help out here, so the player has to deal with water based enemies rather than land based mobs.

Because once you've got a turbine and a laser drill going you're really hurting for ingots.

Seems like you are really only able to think about what the pack currently is and not what it COULD be.
- Add Galacticraft
- Add some recipes (lets use TE to keep it simple)
- Induction Smelter: Pyrothium + Block of metal -> "Unrefined Fuel Crystals" (using any of the unused ExAliquo materials. Or heck, make the crystal a %-based byproduct)
- Magma Crucible: Fuel Crystal -> 10mB Galacticarft fuel
You would go through your ingots so fast while refining the materials into fuel, that there would actually be a reason to build a more complex infrastructure and maximize the processing and energy generation.

Iskander has created an awesome pack that is a blast to play for the first 150ish Minecraft days. But after that you run out of content very easily, adding another tech mod or two (Mekanism and Galacticraft) would add so much more things to do that it would keep it interesting for a much longer time.
