Low output without a huge number of crops. Lower output than stills. Its speed actually worked against it; it was hard to keep it continuously
stocked. It is a tool for bonus energy, not primary energy. The changes we're seeing only reinforce that.
I must be using it wrong then cause it is my only energy source in my current world. Right now it is connected to 40 combustion engines. Early game i started with 1 engine, then 6, and now 40 in prep to scale out for bulk processing. I found it to be the most powerful early game energy source i've ever had access to.
Are we using the same reactor? Purple looking thing added by MFR?
It is easy to keep it continuously stocked if you limit how much liquid storage it has access to. It auto shuts off when it's internal tank is full. Early game i manually shut it off with a lever.
Even with a single item it has higher output than stills on anything but saplings. Single item it makes twice the biofuel on mushrooms, cactus (need greens). Nothing else in common other than saplings. Saplings should be a very low priority item to use in a reactor.
I have a single 9x9 of each vanilla farmable made pretty early in the game and those farms were more than enough to give me as much biofuel as I wanted.
I have a little rough ranking going for my reactor farmables:
Farm size 9x9.
Tier 1:
Potato
Carrots
Cocoa Beans
NetherWart
The four above farm in great quantities and require no extra steps to process.
Tier 2:
Pumpkin Seeds (craft)
Melon Seeds (craft)
Cactus Greens (cook)
Quantity on these is great, but need to craft/cook to use.
Tier 3:
Wheat Seeds (need 3x)
Bone Meal
If you have a skelly spawner or farm bone meal can move up to tier 2. Easy to get in bulk.
Teir 4:
Brown Mushroom
Red Mushroom
Saplings
Basically don't use saplings. Mushrooms work well with fertilizer.
Mod farmables:
Flax (need 2x) -- Not harvesting 100% with MFR machine.
Corn - not working well/at all with harvester, lot of items left on ground. Probably need 2-3 9x9s of it and a different harvester.
Henequin - not auto harvesting with MFR machine, probably need 2-3x 9x9 to get seeds in bulk and a different harvester.
I might be a slow builder, but these 9x9s of most types have filled up several thousand worth of each item as I have built out parts of my base and mined over the past week.
