Fluids ME Storage Question - Direwolf20

For lava, you need to use refractory wax, from the Infernal Branch bees.

Re: Efficiency, as far as I've been able to determine, the 'ramp up' for engines (which are not redstone engines, which work off of different rules) is only a change in frequency of power distribution. As an engine is on longer, the interval between power events grows shorter, but less power is...

That can't be the reasoning, because the 'power requested' functionality WOULD have gotten me to use more gates. But it's now irrelevant, because power will essentially ALWAYS be requested, because things never stop wanting it.

I was just thinking about how I remember seeing a video showcasing this functionality.. This feature, the 'power requested' event for gates, seems almost diametrically opposed to the change that causes constant power drain. I can't fathom the reasoning.

... I had no idea Tinker's Construct had this functionality. That's .. fascinating. And a strange place to put it.

For clarity, what exactly do you mean by 'drawbridges'?

    Slow NEI Item Uses Lookup...

Yes. 6 seconds for a lookup which should take less than a second, multiplied by every time I need to try to remember what something is used for. They accumulate. Seconds quickly become minutes. Over time, minutes become hours. This is a serious quality of life issue; this function is at the...

    Slow NEI Item Uses Lookup...

It seems to be largely a function of how many things NEI knows about. If you have some kind of microblock functionality -- Redpower2, Immibis' microblocks, etc -- that'll tend to sharply explode the number of things NEI has to iterate over when you're doing a 'used in' check. In the case of...

    Distributing Items Evenly Without Overflow

I do things similar to that myself, but I got the impression that the OP didn't want to just void excess, since there was concern about overflow.

    Distributing Items Evenly Without Overflow

You think so? This was kind of ad-hoc, but aside from the repeater-based timer (which could undoubtedly be improved) it seems reasonably space-efficient for what it's doing. The carts pause under the diamond chest on the left, then get sent around the loop where they deposit one log each in...

    1.6.2 Packs

You'll end up with gaping holes pretty much everywhere you used anything not strictly vanilla, so if you used any kind of mod-based structure/decorative anything, it'll be gone, and you'll have to rebuild. I hope you're either on peaceful or not using mod-based lighting, or you'll have extra...

    Resonant Rise

Just to note on the name issue, I have multiple friends who have not been permitted to set up G+ accounts with their names. One of whom isn't even allowed to use the name that goes on correspondence with their lawyer and interactions with their employer. That process is still broken. :(

    Syncing minecraft worlds

The on-disk format is more sparse than that, with the data spread out over a lot of files. Only things that actually change would require syncing, and I'm somewhat dubious at the idea that someone might actually cause 500mb+ of churn every time without assistance from other players. Or even...

    Syncing minecraft worlds

There's differing criteria for 'easiest', with different tradeoffs. If you never expect to run both computers at once, and you don't intend to let anyone else play with you, and you don't have an extra machine to run a server on, and you don't have an internet connection capable of dealing with...

So... Why are the Voxel mods in FTB anyway?

Personally, I find Rei's cave mode far more useful than Voxel's due to the 'density map' style, and it's even "less cheaty" in that it does not show you ALL caves automatically; they have to be exposed to light first.

    Mac Mysteriously quiet sounds

For anyone who might have this problem after me, I found the solution. The problem, it turns out, is that lwjgl -- the library that Minecraft uses for graphics, sound, and input -- is made out of pure retardium, and pretty much has no bug-free versions; they all suck for someone. Happily...
