My server was in Mindcrack, where I found only one diamond (not even a vein, just one solitary ore) in nine chunks of a Temperate Rainforest biome. I had no issues finding diamonds once I started mining in a nearby Ice Wasteland. I didn't think anything of it, except as a statistical anomaly...

Now this is interesting. I live in a Temperate Rainforest on one of the servers I play on, and have had insane problems finding diamonds, as well. I Honeycomb mined the nine chunks around my base from block 4 to block 15. Found one diamond.

On my default Mindcrack Pack, putting 9 Electrum Ingots in the Compressor works. The GregTech configs may not have it enabled for some reason on your installation.

If you use a regular wooden pipe or pnuematic tube setup, it should give you the solid items from inside. A waterproof pipe/liquid tube setup will give the oil.

You can use all vanilla saplings. Jungle Saplings work, but they will grow the 9 block tall single block trunked ones, as opposed to the 30 block tall double block trunked ones.
