Do you have a hardware firewall with anti-virus? I've had that cause me problems in the past, I just used the logs to find out what files were stalling, manually downloaded them, and everything was fine.

The launcher needs to take longer before timing out, that way people would not have to disable virus protection. All thats happening is that the JAR/ZIP file is being opened and scanned for threats, all the launcher needs do it wait for this to finish, but it times out too early.

If a server is running some other than FTB, and a 1.4.4 server cannot be FTB since FTB is not yet on 1.4.4, then if you need help, you need help from the server admins not from FTB.

Compared to vanilla 99.9% of mods look like cheating. You pays your money, you makes your choice.

I know what you were asking, and as I said, as the mod logs says, the mod refuses to work with Tekkit, my suggestion is that it doesn't go further and actually damage peoples game worlds.

I have no idea what the Tekkit guys did, and perhaps there was a war of escalation. But deliberately corrupting players worlds is the game/mod authors equivalent of deliberately targeting civilians.
