Help for a futuristic building design ( Aesthetics Help )

Iridium-reinforced-tunstensteel blocks is the most high-tech looking block IMO. Plus you don't need lights since mobs can't spawn on them. Good blast resistance too. If that's a bit out of your reach though, i'd say construction foam. Can be painted and is quite clean. In my next world, i'm...

    AE has got me thinking...

Yes, I believe it was, though I can't remember where I read it. Thank you.

    AE has got me thinking...

Well obviously, its a story. A work of fiction.

    AE has got me thinking...

Applied Energistics is essentially moving items along wires to somewhere convenient, right? It just struck me that it seems awfully similar to a scientific short story I read years ago. The story went like this: a scientist discovered a way to disassemble the atoms of a cat and transmit them...

    Avoiding power loss over distance?

Except you automatically like 5% for using redstone conduits. Shame really. The only reason I can think of that transformers wouldn't work is if you have them the wrong way round. If not, you could use MFSUs - expensive, but you can always use it in place of your regular energy storage system.

    Osmium

Boron nitride is hard, but you can go 1 better. The ridiculously named Lonsdaleite is 58% harder than diamond. Boron nitride is only 18% hard than diamond.

    Osmium

It also weighs like 6x as much (well, IRL it does. Its also not as hard as diamond, but whatever). Titanium would be a much more sensible material for making armour...

    Osmium

What is it used for? It was recently added by GT; you can only make it from UU matter. However, it isn't used for anything AFAIK. Does anyone know? I ask because I saw someone on another thread (can't remember who) mention they have osmium boots..

    Remember that boring old nether?

Seriously, at the minute the nether is completely featureless aside from fortresses. Now we have a reason to stay there longer than necessary.

    new gregtech fussion reacktor

I know, which is why I have never bothered with complete automation, though that is also partly because I find it unnecessary. I think that a GT advanced filter can output exactly what you wantr into each slot, and nothing else, which you could connect to your ME network via a storage bus (I...

    new gregtech fussion reacktor

Unfortunately my world is still on 1.4.7, and the fuzzy buses aren't added until 1.5. In my world i'm automating it with RP. No doubt an AE setup would be far easier/simpler, but I haven't an example of that to show you (yet), nor do I know of anyone who does. When I update though, i'll make one.

    new gregtech fussion reacktor

To be honest, I don't like how DW20 showed a condensator-cooled reactor to the masses without mentioning that you blow about 1/3 of your EU on lapis, more if you're using GT. He really ought to have made a CRCS system. Automating a CRCS system is pretty easy, especially with the fuzzy buses...

    Fast smelting without IC2?

I have an automated induction furnace, thank you very much. Anyway, even when it is automated, you then have to find something else to do in the meantime. By the way, what mod adds a steam oven? Is it just a furnace that runs off steam?

    Fast smelting without IC2?

What everyone said really, multiple powered furnaces. Good to see that there's something that IC2 still beats other mods at :)

    Red Power 2 status?

I will miss getting diamond dust from nikolite, but I guess I could live without it. What worries me is that I may be currently using something from RP2 without realising.

    The Ultimate Tinkers Construct Tools

I just made a manyullyn longsword, with paper handguard and paper stick. I then used the gold block + diamond and a nether star for a total of 7 modifiers. I then used 1 for electric and put the rest on sharpness. This gave it a damage of 10.5 hearts, enough to 1-shot skeletons and creepers. A...

    The Ultimate Tinkers Construct Tools

Does stonebound work if you get it nearly broken then put electric on it? If so that's pretty amazing. Also: how high damage can you get with any weapon? I tried making a rapier (heard it was the best), but the damage was rather underwhelming, 3 hearts base? Come on, a diamond sword does 5.

Methane still a good boiler fuel?

Meh, you might as well just use AE, doesn't need that much power really, and it makes everything really easy. To be honest, if you can power it AE is superior in pretty much every way to any tipe of piping ever (aside from the cost).
