Methane still a good boiler fuel?

Been playing around with an idea I had for a methane boiler and wanted some feedback.

Usually I run Stevescarts tree farms to fuel my boilers, either through converting saplings into biofuel or cutting up jungle trees into planks. The biofuel boilers work well but need a whole system just to make mulch if you want to make it "no touch". The plank system works well too, but I hate all the Redpower systems spamming of 50 extra stacks just to satisfy a need of 1.
Abandon RP2 for AE! You can feed boilers soooo easily with and AE setup, and the boilers can power the AE system with steam engine.

OR? Why not AND? I am currently running a Steve's Carts Tree Farm that fuels two HP boilers fueled with biofuel and one HP boiler fueled with planks, and I am just waiting for a massive backlog of planks before starting up another HP boiler to run off both charcoal (from sawdust) and planks.

As to making it "no touch"... My current system does require two inputs, Apatite and Cobble. The Cobble is turned into sand for my Peat Farm while the Apatite is used to make fertilizer. Basically all I did was add a Peat Farm and 8 peat-fired engines to the system. These produce extra MJ for me, but more importantly they make ash, which I combine with Apatite to make fertilizer. I then run one Fermenter entirely off Apples (Mulch and Juice) and two others off of fertilizer and water. The peat farm makes the system use a lot more space, but it is also super-simple to set up and run so it is well worth it. As to getting the Apatite and Sand into the system, that is fairly easy. My "Power Plant" is running on it's own independent AE system. So I have my main AE system keep a chest filled with Apatite and another chest filled with Cobble. I have the Power Plant system attached to those two chests as if they are part of its inventory, so it pulls directly from them as needed, and the main AE system immediately refills them if Cobble or Apatite are available (which they always seem to be). So this effectively makes it no-touch as long as my main system is in use, and thanks to the Mulch/apple thing even if my main system is unused for a long time the power plant will keep running for a very long time (Especially with my 12,000,000mb Xycraft tank of biofuel as a buffer).

Related to the above, I also output all gravel and flint (which are unnecessary output of my Power Plant) to the main system through another chest (a double to give me more room to add connections), and any standard saplings or apples I put in my main system are transferred to the Power Plant through that same chest. This works well and is easy to set up because of how AE import and export connections are easily and independently configurable. Another option this provides me, if I ever decide to use it, is the ability to import Sand directly to the power plant by just adding an extra export connection to the chest and a level emitter to only import sand when my main system is above a defined "on hand" amount.

Also, USE AE. Once you are little way into the game and have enough quartz on hand it really helps make this kind of system work efficiently.

Condensed Blocks anyone? Make Extreme blocks version of Planks or charcoals then 0 lag from stupid RP2 from spamming the boilers cause these blocks have higher burn time. (cause they're "compressed" versions).

Meh, you might as well just use AE, doesn't need that much power really, and it makes everything really easy. To be honest, if you can power it AE is superior in pretty much every way to any tipe of piping ever (aside from the cost).

Tartarus.. I mean at work. Same thing really.
I use a minefactory farm- It covered the same surface area as my old SC farm- but runs 8x36HP* instead of 3x36LP.

*With quite a bit of wood left over, as well as tonnes saplings/apples
I am building a centrifuge based liquid boiler system- but it makes oil instead of methane. Looking at the numbers, a methane system could power itself once you reach full boiler heat.

--Edit--

I agree with that- its a lot of extra crafting thats best automated just to avoid automating somthing that was easier to so in the first place.
Try running AE into tesseracts; its fairly neat for running logs ect to multiple places without using loads of bus'
and cable.

I admire your conviction.

If you are using 1.5, you can use the BuildCraft gates to send a red pipe signal when there is less than half full in the Boiler. This signal can be set to send a full stack once only with the pulse option.

Ender chests + Factorization routers. Spans any distance and requires no power. My item management system of choice.

Yes, thank you.

Although, tesseracts would probably be better then chests if you have the resources for them.
