i'm talking from a server owner perspective, this will affect all owners. you don't just sell/close your dedicated server and go play on someone else server, witch will still lack the proper plugins to run.

Yes. Cauldron takedown is a big problem. Running a server with forge only its almost impossible :(. And we are still far from a good protection mod. unless mytown updates. that may help allot

forge essentials is not finished. no update was made in months, and is FULL of bugs. almost nothing works like it should. There is a file in mod config folder that will tell you all the permissions you need to know. can't remember if the file is made when server starts or you need to do a dump...

not sure you will get help here with a plugin that is designed for offline servers ( to say it in a nice way ). cauldron has a " special " instalation . its not just drag and drop :P, do the install on windows and copy all files to the server

if you have a dedicated machine,search the forum, there is a thread with scripts you can use to make a backup :) fast and simple.

get latest forge installed for/on 1.7.2 . start server clean. does it load ? good. add mod 1 by 1 and config id's. do this till you are done or get a crush :) . or just use FTB configs. mods should update config with new items and id's . you will probably have to fix allot if ID conflicts. but...
