In railcraft there is something called a "dimensional anchor" which works as a chunk loader. There is also one by Immibis, although I don't remember the name of it off-hand.

Sphax has the most amount of mod support, mainly because they have tons of people from the bdcraft forums working on a ton of mods. However, I think johnsmith looks the best. Sphax is too cartoonish and plain for my tastes.

I'm not saying that we are going to be leaving the GUIs as they are, I'm just saying don't expect a hand drawn background.

I kind of have to agree with you. The mod is pretty neat, but I don't think that it deserves all of this hype. There are plenty of other mods in this pack that do almost exactly what redpower does.

Is anyone else experiencing problems for other GUIs, such as buildcraft, forestry, and such? Because on a different website where we had the thread posted, that mod pack didn't include gregtech. But it also had an older version of IC2. So its either gregtech is changing some of the GUIs, or...

The 1.4.2 branch should be compatible with all of the 1.4.5 mods, except for a few mods that have changed their paths. Once ftb officially updates, we will update the 1.4.2 download.

From what I saw when I downloaded the texture pack, they were in 32x form.

Currently, in the 1.4.2 version, glowstone is a rock texture, rather than a lantern. The screenshots don't show the most up-to-date work, so don't use them as a basis for analysis.

Minecraft doesn't support partial transparency for GUIs. The reason text is so hard to read is due to the mod, and since the standard Minecraft GUI is white, the mod makers have to cater to that, making the text a darker gray.

Alright, so I decided to see how bad the GUI's really are, but I discovered that no matter what background I'm in, I can still see perfectly fine. Could people who are experiencing this problem post their optifine and video settings?

I've been experimenting with different styles of GUIs, but I haven't found any style that looks good. It's weird, because I can see the text on the GUIs perfectly fine, but a lot of people have trouble.

If it looks like that, then that is how it is supposed to look.

When was the last time you downloaded the 1.4.2 texture pack? I'll see what I can do. EDIT: Re-download the 1.4.2 version and see what you think.

Make sure you're using optifine, and they should work.
