how to fix id conflicts without getting an headache?

One of the big reasons I am playing through the 1.6.x versions of mods right now is because of "IDFix" for 1.6.x , it autoresolves id-conflicts. Works great so far, no trouble for me.

What mod do you use for early game ore processing?

Thank you all for the interesting responses. I've been playing 1.6.4 recently and, unfortunately, Thermal Expansion is of course not available for that MC version. I would normally step over to IC2 and go that route as an alternative but the experimental branch is still in flux and I am still...

What mod do you use for early game ore processing?

The title says it all: You have your first scraps of iron, with gold and redstone in sight. What mod do you go to for your first upgrade from the vanilla furnace?

[1.7.10] Engineer's Toolbox - Now with programmable sockets!

Well this was originally a machine in MineFactory Reloaded, which is currently in a rather nebulous state of development. (Yes it is being developed, but it is not an 'authorized verison' per say.) I kind of miss it, hence my suggestion. (shrug)

[1.7.10] Engineer's Toolbox - Now with programmable sockets!

Emasher, pitch for a possible new socket module: The Fishery Panel must be face down over a minimum 3x3x1 body of water, burns 1 MJ/t for a 1 in 8 chance of catching a fish. Have it produce just the stock 'Fish' from current versions of minecraft, even in 1.7+ with the fishing improvements...

    1.6.2 equivalent mod of OmniTools?

Well this is all fairly new to me as I swung into the Minecraft Mod scene during the 1.4.x era, which is still relatively fresh in my mind. I toyed with RedPower2 machines and Equivalent Exchange 2 wrecked the economy of every server out there. Then 1.5.1 rolled out (followed very shortly by...

    1.6.2 equivalent mod of OmniTools?

Well with 1.6.2 / 1.6.4 versions of mods there has been a sharp rise in 'strange developments'. Thermal Expansion's delay & overhaul, Buildcraft's total power system overhaul, now a bootleg version of MineFactory Reloaded and Power Converters is being pushed out by someone else with who knows...

    1.6.2 equivalent mod of OmniTools?

I am skipping out on the Experimental MFR builds mostly because I would love to hear an opinion about it from PowerCrystals first. (Yes I know that MFR et al is Open Source, but still I would love to hear from the source developer on spin off versions first.)

[1.7.10] Engineer's Toolbox - Now with programmable sockets!

I highly encourage you to watch the Mod Spotlight listed towards the bottom of the first post before really diving into this mod. It is a rather complex mod with extensive amounts of configurability, a fair amount of which gets explained in the Mod Spotlight.

    1.6.2 equivalent mod of OmniTools?

I hate to keep bringing this up but the GraviSuite tool is NOT an 'OmniTool'.. not even close. And yes.. I love the concept of a 'Swiss Army Knife' (or a 'Pocket Multi-Tool' ?) for Minecraft mod tools. I think that really would be epic useful.

    Thermal Expansion Status

First off.. I honestly cannot even believe there is such a phrase as "Solar Abuse". (rolls eyes) Second... real life DOES have universal power. It is called (*gasp*) Electricity. The only difference across the globe is how that electricity is generated (steam turbines, diesel engines, solar...

This sounds like an awesome idea!

    1.6.2 equivalent mod of OmniTools?

Then what is the feasibility of a "Tool API"? An independent API that modders could use.. or not? (shrug)

[1.7.10] Engineer's Toolbox - Now with programmable sockets!

That is a remarkably functional idea, thanks for the tip! Also Emasher, I am quite sure no one is going to gripe for you being busy. Bugfixes are still necessary!

    1.6.2 equivalent mod of OmniTools?

I do see what you mean in regards to different mods having different design intentions behind them when it came to tools, KingLemming. Change proposals are never quite as simple as they sound when tossed around on the forum, sure. That being said however, I really do think that it is a...

    1.6.2 equivalent mod of OmniTools?

Well as it has already been pointed out... if we waited to implement features purely based upon the fact that the next few revisions of Minecraft 'might have that feature', we would never have Forge ModLoader to begin with much less any of the other mods that are out there. Mojang was talking...

[1.7.10] Engineer's Toolbox - Now with programmable sockets!

Honestly I initially thought that the Lava Intake module was similar to the Water Intake module: it pulled in liquid lava in order to pump it out to another source. I was a tad surprised, after reading the tooltips while starting to make one.. that it was a cobblestone generator. When you reach...

[1.7.10] Engineer's Toolbox - Now with programmable sockets!

Emasher, another quick question! (Sorry if I am hassling you, heh.) Maybe I am not seeing it but.. does Engineer's Toolbox have Obsidian generation capabilities? (I am looking for a mechanical route for generating obsidian in 1.6.2 since there is a lack of Thermal Expansion.) I suspect that I...

    1.6.2 equivalent mod of OmniTools?

That is what we were talking about with our earlier discussion over the concept of an "Item Dictionary": have Forge provide definitions for tool functionality that all mods could key into, making life easier for their players. Unfortunately this concept was shot down by the Forge 'powers that...

    1.6.2 equivalent mod of OmniTools?

OOH! Shift-right-click in the air, and you open the toolbag. Shift-right-click on an object and you get shift-right-click functionality. That's a great idea! Very simple, very streamlined. But then the next question is.. how easy is it going to be to code a container that can check its contents...
