    [1.7.10] Marooned

I use ladders and don't mind using wood for them when I get that first really tall oak tree. I reuse them as entry/exits from my base, working my way through a well to get under the bedrock, etc. Oh, and if you make sure you don't build your base on top of one or more abandoned mineshafts you...

    Blood N Bones [Hardcore Survival]

And I get excited every time the thread gets bumped like that.

I don't stockpile stuff. Produce/harvest when I need it. Leave it sitting in the field until I do.

    [1.7.10] Marooned

The kill quests shouldn't be a priority though, at least not early on. They're the type of quests you'll complete simply by playing the game. My only early priority is survival which almost entirely focuses on food. Making sure I have bone meal, gunpowder, cursed earth, and a fish for every...

    [1.7.10] Marooned

If you're worried about how viable those starter tools are as weapons maybe you're fighting more than you need to? I mean sure, if you like minecraft melee combat go for it but there isn't anything in the pack making you do all that fighting before you've made your own tinker's weapons and a...

I finished the AE2 quest page but don't have anything to put into the system that won't fit into a couple diamond chests.

MFR can do a hell of a mushroom farm, using its own fertilizer to accelerate growth. Works exactly like the tree farm, just on mycelium. No cows to produce sewage but you can use mobs like the feral wolves that spawn on grassy areas I bet. There is also a way to get chickens but the sewer works...

    [1.7.10] Marooned

Yeah, that is exactly what I do. A 3-4 high wall with fence around the outer top to stop spiders, then at the bottom a slot made by slabbing on the ground inside and then another slab so you can just see their feet and they can't see you well enough to explode/attack. Another trick I learned...

    [1.7.10] TerraFirmaPunk 2.0 - TerraFirmaCraft & SteamPunk Adventures

By that time the decision is already made though. I find that fruit trees tend to keep me in a specific location once I've planted some of them.

You can use it in a sieve. It doesn't have any drops though. It is basically the hamster wheel of Marooned. Yeah, I forgot about the lava mounds---which also have buckets of water on drying racks. There is one very close to an oasis which is where I probably should have built my initial base.

    [1.7.10] TerraFirmaPunk 2.0 - TerraFirmaCraft & SteamPunk Adventures

I've always thought fighting the RNG was part of the TFC experience. Picking where to build is invariably a trade-off of what it has vs. what I will need later on. As far as having to travel a very long way to find stuff I don't really mind since I'm in a boat. I just keep sailing taking notes...

    [1.7.10] Marooned

All that red sand? 0 drops when sieved. Excavator was still the obvious choice for me, means I can dig in and build defenses very quickly at the start. I try to avoid fighting mobs until I have food sorted which means the weapon advantages of the scythe and battle axe aren't any use. I let the...

    [1.7.10] TerraFirmaPunk 2.0 - TerraFirmaCraft & SteamPunk Adventures

I don't see any point in using Ex Nihilo in a "normal" world. If you want to add an alternate method to obtain some resources there has to be a better way than adding Ex Nihilo and then disabling 95% of the mod. Add it to the chest loot table, make it a building block in one of the worldgen...

Ex Nihilo crucibles generating lava + water source-> Max-size heat exchanger (heat exchanger puts out obsidian as well which you can minechem for your sieve line). Steam from heat exchanger + wood from tree farm -> Max-size Syngas producer Syngas -> Array of max-size iron/steel gas turbines...

[NOW PLAYABLE] The Abandoned House 2 [Jam-Packed] [145+ Quests] [Dungeons, Tech, Bees, Magic]

There is a map in the server download, probably will work for singleplayer. Checked the singleplayer download, it comes with a map too. If you need a fresh copy you can force update. Am I missing something? :)

[1.6.4]Crash Landing [Hardcore, HQM] version 1.1.x BETA STABLE

Marooned feels the closest for people looking for a similar experience. Post Finem has a similar feel too, just with a focus on minechem at the start.

Removing hardcore darkness caused mobs to start spawning again although it still feels that there are fewer mobs than there should be.

There is a quest you can do before that gives you the dislocation and capacity runes you need to both make the t3 blood orb and rubber seeds. That's what I did today to do both. This of course assumes you've got the pump from the end of the beginning quest line pumping blood to your altar.

    1.7.10 HQM/Survival - hypovolemia - something bloody [Open Alpha]

For some reason the surface of the world has turned into areas mobs can't spawn in at night. It is pitch black but f7 still shows yellow instead of red. Still getting a few spawning underground. Searched the thread and checked github, guess I'll widen my search, maybe this is/has happened...

Sieving gravel provided more than enough tin. Before I had that fully automated I just decomposed food tins for the small amount of tin I needed. If you review the thread you'll notice the only people who ever posted a lack of tin were those who didn't have gravel sieves fully automated. :p Tin...
