    Modpack Release

With GT5 and AE2, that's an ambitious goal indeed ! Not easy, but certainly possible.

    Modpack Release

@HeilMewTwo I haven't played this pack yet, but another GT 5 pack I'm playing tweaks Galacticraft (Mars) as an end goal.

@HeilMewTwo UU-matter requires even more work. Just getting enough Osmium cable to make UU-matter is an accomplishment.

    Modpack Release

If you haven't tried GT 5, it's very good/fun. It's an overhaul of GT and not just a port from MC 1.6 to MC 1.7. I think it's better than GT 4 for 1.6.4, honestly.

    Modpack Release

Yup. I second your "WTF ?!" emotion. No ETA on Fusion Reactor for GT 5 or anything like it. The best there is end-game is UU-matter and the Naquedah reactor, but those aren't quite as cool as the Fusion Reactor.

    Modpack Release

Just want to say thanks to @Captainnana and the rest of the FTB staff for bringing this modpack out. I appreciate the diversity and hard work :-)

    Modpack Release

I wish that were true, but GT 5 (for 1.7.10) is (still) missing a lot when compared with previous GT versions (ex. for 1.6.4). It doesn't have wireless/dimensional/far-distance transport of liquids, items, or energy. And, the GT 5 item and liquid pipes are ... *uncomfortable*, for the lack of a...

    [1.7.10][LISTED] InfiTech 2 Modpack v3.2.21 [HQM][GregTech balanced hard-mode modpack]

This is a common problem for all of us GT 5 players. If you want to keep using GT Steam Turbines, a tried-and-true way is to build at least a 3-high RC tank (iron is fine) put RC tank valves on the bottom, and the GT Steam Turbines flush against the bottom. The purpose of the RC tank is less a...

    EDITED: Help with server specs

You get what you pay for. Cheaper places have spotty service, in my experience.

Ah, right. Thanks for finding my error.

DW20 and the paradox of choice

Well, the problem is the fluid conduits require Nether Quartz and the item conduits require Ender Pearls. I think OP is concerned about early-game. EDIT : Basic fluid conduits do not require Nether Quartz. Thanks to @Vaeliorin

Is the FTB server multi threaded or single threaded

And, if you haven't already, run Opis to see what's chewing up CPU. 90% of my CPU is consumed by vanilla MC mobs. Mojang 1.7 code is terrible.

Which pack, how many players, and how much RAM ? I'm using Infitech2 (fairly heavy pack), 3 to 4 players, and 16GB physical RAM. Here are my Java args:

    EDITED: Help with server specs

I do this. I got tired of $35/month for mid-range modded MC server with unpredictable performance. I built my own and run at home. Performance is now vastly better. Going on 6 months now and very happy so far.

Is the FTB server multi threaded or single threaded

Completely agree. For MC 1.7.10, my 4-core dedicated server never spikes higher than ~250% CPU. It's usually between 10% (no players) and 120% (handful of players with 1 exploring). In others words, it uses at *most* 2.5 cores/threads and has a hard time taking advantage of more than a single...

    [1.7.10][LISTED] InfiTech 2 Modpack v3.2.21 [HQM][GregTech balanced hard-mode modpack]

Well before I setup Ethanol and well after I was using coke ovens as my main energy method, I went with oil-->fuel in RC boilers. If you spot a decent-sized geyser, that should contain enough raw energy to last you a *long* time.
