Pretty sure it comes from Bauxite. Typically found in plains and forest, in very large veins closer to the surface. Not sure what the processing method is for it anymore. Extra Biomes XL biomes and Biome o plenty biomes can also have bauxite, but only certain ones. No clue which ones.

Well, I wouldn't say broken, but they are buggy. For example, EE3 basically doesn't work unless you manually update to a newer version. ( Can't craft minium stone or philosophers stone. ) Slowpoke said they plan to look into them tomorrow.

In short though, everything except Iron is really a downgrade, as it's the only one that improves efficiency. All of the others are less efficient than even stock. It is far better to just make more engines and use some energy conduits to pipe the power wherever you want it to go.
