    Upgrading engines??

You use a soldering iron to place an electron tube in a circuit board, then the circuit board in an engine. In virtually every case though you would use the iron efficiency upgrade. All of the other upgrades make the inefficient electrical engine even less efficient. That 10mj/t is costing...

    Xycraft Multitanks and Lag.

Hmm. Well, it does have over 1,700 chunks loaded. That player has 282 loaded, and you said there were only 2 on at the time. Even on the high end 1 player usually only loads about 400 chunks. Sounds to me like a lot of chunk loaders, and chunk loaders tend to be used only in chunks with stuff...

    2560 X 1440 monitors

Resolution is the single biggest factor in the performance of a game...that being said, it is driven by the GPU, and minecraft barely touches modern video cards. Also, when you're in windowed mode...you're still drawing all the pixels. Performance difference there is usually related to issues...

    Glass Fibre Cable Confusion.

Nope. Glass fibre cable can handle 512 eu per pulse/packet, not tick. This means 1 single chunk can not be larger than 512 EU, but you can have a nearly infinite number of those. ( Obviously, computers don't handle infinite so well, so there will be a limit somewhere, it's just not explicitly...

Just saw someone did this on my server, how??

Never try to place a block on the ground, just walls. When placing on the ground, it loves to warp into the ground instead, destroying that block. Next, just place dirt walls behind where you want the block to go. Now you can place the block you want against the wall and have virtually no...

    Did I break my uu-matter?

You could always just add greg tech in to get the desired UUM recipes, as well as everything else GT adds. Just make sure to go through the config to keep everytbing as it is now.

Is it possible not to have a desert or cactus on my map?

Glad you got it all worked out... ...and here come the flashbacks.

    Exploding... Router? Autocrafting table? Laser?

Did you know that if your lights are at or above eye level, that you actually have to light everything to 9, not 8 using F3? That displays light at eye level, so 1 block above the ground. If the lights are not on the ground, then you need to light it up 1 more to keep the floor above 7.

How'd you like to see mods change for 1.6?

I think the OP meant specifically changes mods can make to use the new stuff. If we're going to grind up horses though, we might as well get some sort of horse meat out of it too.

    Exploding... Router? Autocrafting table? Laser?

I had a fun one, and it's the reason I know bookshelves can spawn mobs. I have a nice sky island age on my server. I cleared the island so no mobs could spawn, it's eternal day. I built my house out of xycorium bricks. At one point, I made an enchanting room. I flew off to get some stuff for a...

    Just a little question.

As far as updates, start throwing some dice. The mod authors themselves don't know when they will have mods updated, and modpacks then have to check for compatibility problems after the mods are ready. As for the mods used, I would imagine they use the exact yogbox modpack. If they wanted to...

    Exploding... Router? Autocrafting table? Laser?

Ah, yes. I place torches all over so I forget this. Don't be stingy with your torches:) If you don't mind the look, placing your torches at ground level is best due to the way they spread light. Mobs care about light at the ground level. My friend always has problems with this, he's really...

Eloraam has not disappeared. (random half related topics)

The api will be nice, and they do continually make performance improvements...though they seem to as often add stuff that eats the performance as well. Unfortunately, they long ago made the decision to hit as many different machines as possible. The code is far more portable than most games...

How to make a door auto close within Direwolf20?

Just to clarify this last bit as OP seems quite new: With normal wood and stone pressure plates, if a mob steps on them it will open the door. Creepers can track you from outside your house, and zombies love to charge doors anyways...so, these pressure plates are very bad for outside your door...

    Exploding... Router? Autocrafting table? Laser?

Uhm, I don't think any of those. What are you using for power for the lasers? Combustion engines love to explode. Several other engines are capable of exploding. Forestry engines ( such as biofuel, biogas, electrical ) are all safe. Steam engines you have to let run out of water, keep heating...

Is it possible not to have a desert or cactus on my map?

Not quite. The extra biomes types don't replace any vanilla types. Both are sort of added to a list. When the random generation occurs, it thinks: ok, I need to create this new chunk. Step 1, what biome(s) should it be? It then looks through the list and picks. The problem is that the more...

Eloraam has not disappeared. (random half related topics)

They do that on purpose. They don't want to just add a bunch of content. They merely want to provide the frameworks for everything else to be based off of. This, and they also have to maintain the theme and such of the original game. Change much and you will lose people. I have friends that...

Eloraam has not disappeared. (random half related topics)

Well, that depends on what you mean by "Jewelery-quality", however, as far as the clearer part it's actually backwards. It's easier to make more perfect/clear gems than the imperfect. This is because it's more difficult to control a naturally chaotic system. Part of the process for synthetic...

Eloraam has not disappeared. (random half related topics)

Well, they wear natural rubies, and not because they are hard to make. They're actually relatively easy. Rubies are simply the rarest of the natural gemstones, and it is possible to identify artificial ones. I saw artificial rubies earlier for just $45 a carat. That's really cheap. However...

Eloraam has not disappeared. (random half related topics)

I was talking more from a chemical reference. Sapphire is the catch-all term for the Corundums. Ruby is an Aluminum Oxide crystal with chromium impurities that turn it red. Padparadscha also contains Chromium impurities, but is lighter in color. Everything else, including no impurities at all...
