You don't have enough memory to run the pack. If you have a 64 bit os then you need to use 64 bit java so that you can allocate more memory. If you have a 32 bit os then the only pack designed for them is FTB Lite 2.

What pack are you trying to play? What do you mean mods from an older installation? Please use pastebin for your logs. Can you post the full log please.

The gzip error usually means the world is corrupt but you could try removing the chicken chunks mod. You also have an entry regarding project red retrogen and, i think, that happens in the event of a chunk rest.
