I was thinking because of the gc overhead error that it maybe the environment variable issue. I wanted to see the full log to check to see if that was the case.

Which driver did you download because I have looked on the amd support website and the latest driver for your card is over a year old. I would try using the auto detect option from the support page, link below, to see if it gives you a different driver than the one you installed...

Does it happen with those other games as well or only minecraft?

If it is the same error as your initial post it maybe related to the artifice mod. I would backup your world and update the server and client to the latest recommended version which is 1.0.13.

Download the javara program from the link below and run it the click the remove jre button. After it has completed restart your computer then try the install again. http://singularlabs.com/software/javara/

Did you try the fix above from @Tristam Izumi Unfortunately if after doing it and it does not work then i am afraid the world is gone but that fix has worked before.

Try a force update of the pack.

What gfx card does your system have? Can you post a fresh log as well please? Upon looking at a few threads on other forums it could also be that if your gfx card is old and is just not supported by windows 8.

Ok then where you installed the client on your system. On my system the ftb folder has all the ftb files inside it. Open the options and to to the location it says in the install folder.

Remove the mods you have added and try it again. Are they mods that are in other 1.6 modpacks that you added.

It is either an lwjgl or trying updating your video card drivers. If windows installed it's own driver for your video card then that is most likely the problem.
