I got pretty far out into the desert and found some really weird tower-ish netherbrick building (not the usual nether fortress with the spawners). It was almost like a... spine shape or something? (maybe it's one of the still-dormant endgame buildings...) I haven't gotten very far in looting...

Good stuff, and a great example of going with the bed and a ditch. I wonder if you'd run too low on bonemeal / food if you had to wait until at least the second morning to collect bones/zombie flesh if you didn't use the easy quest. (I use the easy quest route, so I don't know, just wondering)...

(btw, love your vids...) I don't get the angst. People recommend what they know/like/have used. Many of us go with the wall/ditch routine or one of its many permutations. There's nothing stopping you (or anyone else) from chiming in with your wisdom and suggestions when people ask for ideas.

The black gravel doesn't sieve (that's not a vanilla recipe I guess), and in fact, I really didn't find any uses for the black gravel. Too bad! Maybe someone more creative will figure something out...

If you don't want to sieve all night for stone for the slab furnace, you can make a bone pick instead. Run over to the road that's just off to the (east?) side there and mine some of the black cobblestone. You can use it to make a furnace or to make slabs for a slab furnace. It seems to work...

Yep, and use lots of cables/conduits/pipes if necessary. Do different machines generate different amounts of heat? Guess I need to go do some research (though for now, I'm assuming that I should try to get just about everything out of the ship).

Is there any way to cool off machine rooms so we don't start sweating when we're around a lot of machinery? Maybe a fan of some sort? I'm putting most of my machines down in the basement so the ship isn't so bad but going down there for any real amount of time leads to those annoying sweats...
