Update on the Future of FTB Modpacks in 1.7

Hmmm. From all the hubbub on Twitter and Reddit and this thread, you guys could potentially have worded this announcement a little better... :p I'm not too great a fan of this step. Focusing on flavor and consistency can be an argument, but it shouldn't be the end-all argument (certainly not...

Try a comparator, it specifically has this function (among many others).

Yeah, chalk that up to a typo of mine  I meant CRCS. And you can find out more on the IC2 forums, subsection nuclear engineering. Should have various threads on the subject. The basic gist is that you use something like AE or equivalent to extract spent coolant cells from live reactors...

First, a miscalculation on your part - a 36 Hp can supply two steam turbines worth of steam, not one. So you're looking at 1500-1600 EU/t from those four boilers, not 800. Second - Biofuel. You can fuel additional boilers by converting the saplings from your tree farm into liquid fuel. There...

I got bad font for a while when I was browsing the forums through a remote connection (a Citrix session) that couldn't be fullscreened and therefore squashed the image together.

If the plants are not recognized, you can add them to apiculture.conf in the Forestry config folder in the appropriate section.

Exactly. The point of a quote is that it is a quote, i.e. a direct repetition of what someone else said. If you modify it , it stops being a quote, and starts being something you said instead. That subverts the entire exercise :p

As far as I am aware, 1 block of water will stop dead any fall without damage. You straight fall through if there is nothing below, but if there is, then it doesn't hurt. If you want to build a drop trap and want the items to land in the water, try an item grate from Thaumcraft. They let items...

Just to add to what @MigukNamja said about breeding - I once made this spreadsheet. Because I am crazy for data like that. It includes only base trees, but it gives you something to go by when you want to set up an ethanol and/or wood production early, before you get into time-consuming trait...

Yes, they are solid fuel only. Charcoal is the go-to solid fuel because it's easily produced. The most efficient methods include Railcraft's steam oven (built directly against the boiler, it will draw steam from it and the boiler will draw charcoal from it) and IC2's induction furnace. The...

Wherever did you get the idea of making more farm bricks? The config setting increases the amount of farmland a given farm can work. The farm multiblock itself stays the same. A 3x3 farm multiblock under default settings is still a 3x3 farm multiblock with the square layout setting enabled...

The usual modus operandi is that the hungry node ingests the blocks near itself (including tile entities like nodes) and stores the consumed aspects internally. If you then break the hungry node, you get a large amount of ethereal essences. As such, by feeding it a node, it should convert the...

GregTech still piggybacks on IC2, and IC2 increased bronze output from 2 to 4 in Minecraft 1.6.x. GregTech is simply adjusting its internal recipes to follow suit.

The Final Word on Steam Boiler Efficiency

No, it doesn't really depend on anything... 36LPs heat up much faster and, in 1.6.x packs, are permanently more fuel efficient. So yes, you will save fuel in both the short and long run if you use two 36LPs over one 36HP. However, @Sidorion is right in saying that if you have a permenant...

"Now it's not working" is not nearly enough information for anyone to troubleshoot your issue. Check that your fermenter has water in its internal tank, saplings in its internal storage, mulch/fertilizer/compost in its internal storage, and is in fact receiving power.

You can inhibit the taint spread, but it's a lot of repetitive work. Basically, taint is spread by the tendrils. They grow onto a block and then, while they are on that block, the block slowly transforms and eventually changes its biome type to tainted land. As a result, if you regularly clear...

    A little rant

This thread only reaffirms my position of being extremely picky about who even gets the IP of a server that I host. My server generally has exactly one rule ("Be excellent to each other") and it has never, not once, been violated by anyone. Going public with that kind of setup (or...

    Engines not outputting enough power

Game mechanics fascinate me, because sometimes there's such a wealth of detail hidden underneath something that seems simple at first. For all Buildcraft power gets knocked as being unwieldly, it's one of the most interesting systems left in modded Minecraft nowadays. It's just not very well...

My managed farm does not plant/replant.

Ah, thanks for the info. More or less confirms what I expected. (CJ is a really busy guy it seems)
