    it's if BOP in enabled but you didn't select it for World Type. most of the Ocean biomes are replaced with Mushroom Island

    also it adds recipes to processing machines that don't already have them for specific ores(really annoying too find you can't process say Signalum in your EIO machines)

    only certain Tool Rods can be used to make bolts try using a slime tool rod and pouring molten bedrock over it

    I've got wood.

    use ProjectE, Equivalent Exchange, Full Throttle Alchemist(the new Dartcraft) or one of the other mods that can change wood into other items. I think FTA can turn wood into saplings

    I use a flint head, wood rod, paper anything that doesn't affect durability. Reason is I'm cheap.
