It's difficult to do these, because chickens stop rendering about 30 blocks away. Is there any way I can change this? My render distance doesn't effect it, and I can't find any options for it in Optifine. (insert fancy post merge thing here) Are post merges automatic? I hope so...

I don't think computercraft integrates directly with AE, but you may be able to have some redstone set up where it emits a redstone signal if there are items in a certain ME chest, and then you could have computercraft set up right next to the redstone and have it display some image of a block...

I don't believe so. You can move all the items from the chest to another chest, then break and replace the diamond chest and fill it back up again to get it facing the right way.
