Nope. You place your firebox down (3x3), then if you want max size boiler, 4 more 3x3 levels of lp or hp boilers. Then you run waterproof pipe to your steam engines (or liquiducts). Attach the pipe to the boilers, not the firebox.

The markers need to be activated to make their red-frame. Then when the filler is put down, the red frame is replaced with yellow and black frame and all of the markers pop free as items ready for you to pick up.

I'm not colorblind, but there are times when I'm playing a game and they have these annoying "Remember the color and order" type puzzles where I'm thinking, "Great, that just eliminated a whole segment of the population".
