Should ic2 be boycotted untill the power system is fixed ??

Sometimes it's not RC defies physics, but Minecraft itself. - Steam engines are actually "external combustion engines", so you can use any external heat source to use it. The issue is that those engines can be powered by netherrack or lava and they provide heat forever (IRL lava would cool down...

A Rotarycraft Thread (Meanders a little)

VTOLs are boring in minecraft. Every jetpack or flying superarmor is basically a VTOL. And no planes, because they're kinda redundant when you have such suits and armors.

Reika? Can we have some tips on what is it going to be?

Wait... Really? Planes? Oh my gosh, I would absolutely love to play with such mod!

BTW, Reika I still suggest planes :) Not even a jet, just a small turboprop plane like De Havilland DHC-2 Beaver Mk. III so it will eat jet fuel. Though I bet that's too much for RotaryCraft... *sad pony* Is there're any good mod with planes that can be added to Monster?

It's not an electricity mod. It's everything but electricity. Even RotaryCraft power is closer to electricity than IC2 :D

A quick tip. Be careful with lava+steam-powered fan farms. Fan can spread out fire and it does that VERY WELL.

    It's definitely Tinker's Construct.

But it looks like people tend to "cheat" and use TE to store and transfer power and use magnetostatic engines to actually power stuff :D

    Blood-Magic

Well infusion recipes would be cool, too. But in addition to in-game guide.

    Blood-Magic

And someone refuses to add an in-game manual :3

Should ic2 be boycotted untill the power system is fixed ??

Well, I haven't used IC2 for quite a long time... The whole "voltage" concept in IC2 was quite artifical before. How losses are calculated now? What happened to solar trees? Is the only good way to generate power still either spamming widmills/solars or making stupid single-block...

Yep, you can hire some RotaryCraft fans and they would collect crops for you for a small amount of HSLA steel. What are exactly the changes OP is talking about, BTW?

    A couple RotaryCraft questions.

Well, that might be arguable - you don't need exceptionally large amounts of stone to make a gearbox and you definitely wont need a gearbox before you can allow yourself to smelt a stack of stone. Ah, that explains it.

Wow, that's an impressive setup. But you also use magnetostatic engines and RF to transmit power. :3 Power buses look interesting, though. I need to check them out.

    A couple RotaryCraft questions.

BTW, Reika, do you always make the machines with a use in mind? Sometimes I just think "why would I use that?" for example - wooden gearboxes. Wood is a tiny bit harder to get than stone(at least more annoying) and stone gearboxes are better. Or fuel enhancer. Maybe I'm wrong and it has its...

Obsidian is not an issue, I just not quite equipped to go there.

I use more expensive way honestly - I use cooling fins and lava since I haven't been in Nether yet.

    A couple RotaryCraft questions.

Or you can just look at the handbook :3 Redstone engine is 1 Mj/second and then you can just look at the conversion ratio and figure out the rest. And one extra to pump the water to all of them :3 I kinda like that setup and I think steam engines are rather cheap. Well, I guess they're cheaper...

    A couple RotaryCraft questions.

Well, gasoline engine is roughly a BC stirling engine in terms of power. DC engine produces 64 times less power than gasoline one while Redstone engine produces 20 times less power than stirling one, so yep, it's more than 3x stronger than DC engine :) I find your idea quite interesting, but...
