Try Fastcraft. It helps a lot with performance. With Fastcraft I get better performance in 1.7.10 compared to 1.6.4 You can also try Optifine. It can help in some situations.

You can also get very laggy worlds with Mystcraft if you have lots of flowing water. Like lakes that form on islands and so on. Also falling gravel and sand also cause a lot of lag.

BTW, I'm considering adding very big new dimlet which adds ruined cities. Think big skyscrapers which are partially ruined. If you can think of nice building blocks for those as well. I can of course use Vanilla stuff.

Yes, that's actually one of the reasons I decided to go with 'unknown dimlets' as loot where the actual dimlet is only gotten later with a machine. I'm currently at the same stage. I have just about set up an enderman farm in my world and got 3 unknown dimlets so far :-)

I'm using tesseracts with enderio conduits all the time. Never had any issues with them. For power, fluids, and items. Just configure the conduits and tesseract correctly and it will all work. Both on 1.6.4 and 1.7.10

BTW, Still working on this but a bit slower with all the festivities and so on :-) I'm currently working on a dimension editor where you will be able to insert some dimlets (like peaceful, efficiency, sky and time dimlets) into an already built dimension. This will not work by adding a dimlet...

Well short-lived objects don't through the full garbage collector. There is still a very fast garbage collection going on but the performance of that is really very good in general. There is some info about this garbage collection for 'short-lived objects' here...

Note that a local object that is used and immediatelly has no more reference is not actually removed with the garbage collector. Java has a special optimization for that particular case since it is very common. The object space is immediatelly reclaimed.
