I've tried the recipe on two different servers and local - all using Unleashed 1.1.3 and the recipe works. I'm not sure what your issue is - wish I could be of help.

It seems cheaty anyways. I can take 1 iron and get 2 steel and I don't have to build a blast furnace. Are you using Unleashed 1.1.3? That's what I'm using.

the steel dust cooks up to 2 ingots in a powered furnace and I'm sure it does in vanilla furnace as well.

Albeleo, it works. Just put an iron in the center of your crafting table and coal at the e, w, s, n points and you craft steel dust which you can then pop in furnace for 2 steel ingots.

I lost a huge inventory system with full diamond chests, sorted by redpower sorting machines, to combustion engines filled by only one aqueous accumulator. So many lessons learned :) I finally found about about the F7 key and will never have an errant spawn like that in my base again. But...

Wow, I never came across that steel dust recipe and when I looked up recipes for steel in NEI, this didn't show up. Oh, well. I could have had my HP36 boiler so much sooner :)

I wanted shiny metal for the 1 recipe - energetic infuser. But I also wanted it to lock my item and energy tesseracts so i can easily pick up and move my quarry blocks without having to change send/recieve, reselect channel, etc.

The Smeltery does require you to replenish lava but not very often at all. It's a great way to process your ores. I probably used a total of 4 buckets of lava for quite a few stacks of ores. It's really easy to get buckets of lava while you're mining. One pool of lava will probably give you...

I went a totally new route for me this run-through of Unleashed. I started with a small forestry tree farm and used buildcraft pipes (with inserters, which are awesome!) and vanilla furnaces to create charcoal which then fed back into the hobbyist steam engine powering my tree farm. worked...

It should work. I have the same setup with diamond pipe splitting the resources.I posted an enhancement request asking for the ability to have meta-patterns that basically crafted two patterns that would be located in two different interface boxes, fixing this issue. AlgorithmX2 posted back...
