How to trim out any EU related mods in Unleashed? (and play unleashed more generally)

I know how to craft it, I just wasn't sure if you needed a smeltery to actually smelt the dust. I also don't recall getting 2 ingots from the dust; if that is part of Mekanism then maybe smelting in a vanilla furnace is also.

False, mekanism is not in unleashed, yet the recipy defenitly is. It also makes the TiC steel instead of the railcraft steel, wich is why it doesnt show up in NEI if you look up ways to make "railcraft" steel. Wich mod does actually add it? I have no idea, the steel dust sits in the "meterials" creative tab and does not show up with just TiC selected.
Looking trough the config files there is a file called: BasicComponents. Wich contains:

Edit: apparently one of the two MFFS mods uses steel and copper wire. So that is the one adding on those 2 base components. My gues is that its the MFFS version used with mechanism and therefor copies that recipy as a base component! Mystery solved?
With trimming out the IC2-reliant mods, is there any substitute to the modular force field system? Or can it exist on it's own in some way?
If not, might be worth hinting to the modmaker that it'd be great to have some MJ compability with it, since the force fields seems to be the only "unique" thing reliant on EU.

Well now I'm really sad. I tested this out tonight. One steel dust smelted to 2 steel ingots in both a powered furnace and a vanilla furnace. In the smeltery...it totally smelts into only 1 steel ingot.
Looks like I've been shorting myself a bunch of steel! Curse you mDiyo!
What are you using? iron ingot, iron ore, pulverized iron? I tried it and it doesnt seem to give me any steel. It may be an IC2 thing or one of those related mods cause nothing happens for me as I've removed those mods.
Sorry, I can't help you there cause I've never used MFFS myself. Always played on my personal private server so I never saw the need to mess with it.
EDIT: Did they nerf magmatic engines or something? I do not remember them being so slow.

I've removed all ic2 mods, ee3 and mystcraft. Nothing else. Not sure why this is happening.
Its not, like i said its from MFFS Calcavia version.
The MFFS Calcavia version is not IC2 dependant an as such is not an IC2 mod/addon. It infact excepts EU and MJ aswell as the universal electricity joules.
It seems cheaty anyways. I can take 1 iron and get 2 steel and I don't have to build a blast furnace.
Are you using Unleashed 1.1.3? That's what I'm using.
Im using whatever is available in the launcher as of yesterday. Not sure if any new update has come out since then.
But it's okay, I'll suffer through the tedium of getting my first 32 or so diamonds...before I can get a quarry + item tesseracts going. Lol. Never thought that life without my bees would be so crippling.
It's probably one of the mods I removed.
I removed IC2, Nuclear Control, Compact Solars, Advanced SOlars, Advanced Power Management, Chargepads, MFFS, MFFS_Cal, Mystcraft, and Equivalent Exchange 3. My guess is that the steel recipe belongs to one of them if it worked for you.
No worries, however, as I'll just build myself a blast furnace when the time comes.
