The Thaumcraft Runic armor is also a good in-between. Better than Diamond without being invulnerable. Once you get it enchanted, it is extremely potent protection, but never allows you to completely ignore monsters.

As of 4.1 you can replant Ethereal Blossom. Before that, they are one use.

In the Saves folder of the client, delete the mapwriter folder.

The Ethereal Blossom is what you need. Sometimes a Silverwood will spawn a Pure Node, but that is the only time they'll clean up tainted biomes

Horizons includes Thaumcraft, which has creative flight in the form of the Thaumostatic Harness. Ars Magica 2 has flight magic. Witchery may have flight options. So, yes, kinda. There is flying magic available. RotaryCraft seems to be the only tech flight.

You can label alembics so they only accept one type of essentia.
