The problem arises when the FTB pack does actually come out and you are trying to transfer over. I'm not familiar with the underlying technicalities, but I'd imagine you'd need to have it configured similarly to what FTB packs use, especially as far as IDs are concerned?
Yes you would. Or you could change things later. You could use mIDas Gold and the mIDas Patch Maker to convert all the block/item ids in your world to the ones used in FTB, or you could change FTB's config IDs so they match your world. Or you could just not transfer your world over at all and keep playing with MultiMC. By the time the FTB pack DOES come out, if you've kept up with updating the mods you're using, you'll probably already be using newer mods than the ones in FTB.
Just remember to keep your world backed up. It's very easy to screw yourself over when you're messing with IDs.
Once you learn to live without Redpower, you can enjoy every new mod on their cutting edge updates like I do. The only things I miss are the scythes.

Yes, yes everyone digs at Soaryn's "Aluminum" spelling (apparently Apple too) yet this is actually a valid American spelling. A few years ago one would write "Supher" yet nowadays it's been americanised into "Sulfer", so don't be surprised if Aluminium changes also.

I know that Greg (German however) always misspelt acquired, and has had this reported to him various times, particularly in the description if you obtain his meta-tile entity thing by accident somehow, like with NEI telling you what a block is before it has loaded.
What's annoying is that people are still reporting this, despite being only found in NEI show hints mode thingie by now, as they are Using ftb, and he is on 1.5.2.
