Because Forestry and Railcraft stipulate in their post in the General Permissions thread that they only give permission for mods being distributed via the FTB Launcher. Otherwise, I would have to separately obtain permissions from them. And somehow, I have a feeling that the moment I mention 'technic', they'd be very hesitant about granting that permission.
Why do you keep repeating things that people have corrected you on over and over? I know I've corrected you on forestry at least once.
From Forestry's License
Forestry said:You are free to add Forestry to your modpack and redistribute it, as long as the modpack is strictly non-profit and none of the other mods are included against their license. Yes, this even applies to packs made by people I don't like. Don't expect me to play tech support for your modpack though. (Applies to 2.0.0.6+ and later.)
So go nuts.
From Railcraft's license
And no, CovertJaguar is not an irrational ass. He's a good and demonstrably hardworking guy who wants to see his mod used and loved. His license is entirely fair and people have told me he is willing to give permission. I seriously doubt he will shoot you down for distributing his modpack any way he can. You are not the founders of Technic, and he has no reason to hold anything beef with you.Railcraft said:
- You are REQUIRED to provide a link to a PUBLICLY posted permissions list for all the mods currently in your modpack (images of PMs, posts by devs, etc...).
- Requests without proper background information (links, name, theme, descriptions, other mods, expected user base, etc...) will be dismissed off hand.
- If you do receive permission you will not be allowed to use the latest series of Railcraft (versioning system being <major.series.revision.build>, ie 3.3.1.0) until a new series is released or one week has passed since the last revision was released. This is to protect the users from unstable versions.
- Permission to use future versions may be revoked at the discretion of CovertJaguar, but will only occur if it is deemed necessary for the health of the mod. Otherwise permissions are considered to be valid for past, present and future versions unless otherwise stated.
Sorry to get a bit heated, but I keep seeing you sell these guys short. Your modpack can be made public without moving heaven and earth. You should do so! The private pack mechanism is not really intended for what you're doing and you've worked hard to make a selection that includes freely distributable mods.
