DW20's mod spotlight have the numbers on the force drive so that it is suppose to be comparable to a combustion when run with water as the throttle. Not to OP, IMHO, but I'm with Shneeky on the pack as a whole, the backback mechanics are great. The rest, not so much.

Also, Immibis has address the TE problem with his 1.5.2 update and he's pretty much done what Shneeky detailed here, removed those two lines from the config file until he and KL and work out a method to get it to work. Deleting those lines will remove any covers attached to TE tubing.

Also, apparently Dartcraft is still in Beta development, and as such, does not yet have a policy for mod packs developed. And, therefore, I can't include it. Besides, there seems to be a bug with Dartcraft crashing if it doesn't have IC2 installed. Since IC2 is not involved in this mod, that's kind of a mood-killer.

I really am considering Forestry, just for the dang backpacks. If so, I will most emphatically NOT add in Extra Bees.

I have Dartcraft without IC2 installed and haven't encountered this bug yet. It's worked smashingly for about 6-8 total hours of play.

Really? That did it for me.

Ok, apparently I made a stupid mistake and deleted the tile.entity lines instead of the block lines from the config. Now that I've deleted the block lines, things are working great. (Note to self: Do not bugfix while exhausted.) Thanks.

If you have Tinker's Construct it really feels like dartcraft would be superfluous, or vice versa. Both are good, but you'd be advised to pick one.

They are two different mods, but both ask you to invest time and effort into tool-building to get the most out of the mod. Dartcraft is great, Tinker's Construct is great, but I think having both would be alot. I've chosen to go with Forge Extras and Tinker's Construct in my modpack. I could have gone with Dartcraft and gotten a bit more bang for a single mod buck, but I didn't.

Similarly I'd be surprised if someone who already has Dartcraft wants to add Tinker's Construct; they've got incentives to keep building Dartcraft tools to raise the experience of their upgrade tomes. So it'd be a bad kind of overlap in my opinion. The good kind of overlap is where there are two good ways to do things and you can do none, both or either easily. The bad kind is where you feel compelled to do both and they do not play well with each other.

UPDATE
  • Added: Forestry
  • Tweaked: Config settings to avoid ID Block error
  • Tweaked: Forestry config to disable Particle FX and performance.backpacks.resupply, since this IS a lightweight mod pack, designed for slower machines
  • Tweaked: Disable Forestry spawning of Tin and Copper so all ores are the same type
  • Created: Icon.png and Splash.png files.
  • Finished manual collection of permission/license screenshots to comply with Private Public Mod Pack Submission Guidelines
  • Zipped up appropriate files, as per guidelines.
  • SUBMITTED
From here, it's up to the Mod Pack team to review and approve or deny my submission. Fortunately, I have submitted it well in advance of the weekly deadline of Wednesday evening.

Edit: this is supose to be a reply to kirin dave's last post

Again, I disagree.

They are both mods that "ask you to invest time and effort into tool-building" but dartcraft also has backpacks and a difrent upgrade sistem.

You may have to chose one bt having the 2 is not a bad option at all.

Okay.

It's true! I have backpacks covered in my modpack though. Also colored planks are covered.

and a difrent upgrade sistem.

What really spoils the cross-play is that Dartcraft demands you make a ton of tools to level the tome. This sort of steps on the toes of other tool mods. Wanna make that ender backpack? Start churning out force tools and upgrades. And sorry, that means that you might as well ignore TConstruct tools because you're busy investing time and resources into Dartcraft tools–even tools you may not need or want but have made just to get the novelty bonus on upgrades.

You may have to chose one bt having the 2 is not a bad option at all.

You are welcome to your opinion, but I don't think anyone here will be swayed by the repetition of this sentiment.

What really turned the tables for me on Dartcraft, though. It's ore is ugly. Like not just kinda ugly like Xycraft ore. It's really ugly like a piece of rock is infested with yellow square sores. It seriously looks like the power ore rock is just ill. Oh, and 24mj/t peak performance engines with high efficiency seems a bit strong to me.

Yes, it's ugly andthat is why it is not on my own modpack. I'm waiting for someone to retexture it.[/quote]

Why bother witha private modpack key though? If you have permissions, put it on technic. You'd already be done.

I distribute on technic and as a multimc instance for our private pack.

Simple: Technic has bad reputation.

maby he doesn't want a permissions arguement better safe than sorry

Guys. You are making up something that is not there. He has permissions and technic is better technology for this work. There's really no permissions violations in technic now and they're trying to do more for mod authors. They also provide a lot of services for modpack authors. For example, have you noticed where you pull the latest build of lots of our favorite mods from? HINT READ THE URL: http://build.technicpack.net/

What he could do is ask the FTB people if they could maintain his stuff as a public modpack. it seems like FTB has room for more modpacks and enlisting the community makes sense. If this is a good low-fi and/or starter modpack, it certainly has room in an FTB pantheon.

Because Forestry and Railcraft stipulate in their post in the Central Mod Permissions thread that they only give permission for mods being distributed via the FTB Launcher. Otherwise, I would have to separately obtain permissions from them. And somehow, I have a feeling that the moment I mention 'technic', they'd be very hesitant about granting that permission.

I'm not saying that it has't better tech but it has bad reputation.
