There is an official FTB wiki being worked on (not that one). For now, I'd suggest the wikis listed here: http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/complete-list-of-mod-wikis-info.1781/
You guys should publicize this more! Let us at it and let the crowd-sourcing wiki magic do its work.To add onto this post the official one will be at http://wiki.feed-the-beast.com (Working in progress)
Any other link going to an FTB site isn't an official one.
IMHO it would be a terrible idea to open it for public editing. We all know that evil trolls walk the interwebz and they would jump at the chance to mess the wiki up, which would make the Wiki team work even more in having to clean up the troll "droppings". By keeping it locked and editable by only the Wiki team they are able to control the content to ensure it is professional and well written. Which, as a translator, I am thankful for. I'd hate to translate to spanish a troll's deifinition of compostI hope the goal isn't to keep tight control of the wiki content, because IMHO that's the wrong approach.
Wikipedia itself is open to anyone, anonymous or not, and it is one of the biggest jumps in human knowledge, well, ever. These two things are not a coincidence.IMHO it would be a terrible idea to open it for public editing. Go to Wikipedia and read a page on whatever your job/specialist area is about and you will soon see that Wikipedia isn't all as great as you thought it was: there are a lot of errors. I am not sure what the plan for the wiki team is but they will be building it all first so its consistent then depending on how things go it could be opened if needed but I honestly dont think that will be needed after its initially builtWikipedia itself is open to anyone, anonymous or not, and it is one of the biggest jumps in human knowledge, well, ever. So fix it. Of course it has errors, it's written by human beings. But over time they get corrected because it's so easy to correct them.Go to Wikipedia and read a page on whatever your job/specialist area is about and you will soon see that Wikipedia isn't all as great as you thought it was: there are a lot of errors. They recently picked the wiki team (there was a thread made by Jaded I believe) and posted about it on the forumsYou guys should publicize this more! Let us at it and let the crowd-sourcing wiki magic do its work.

Open the wiki to the players. Keep your team working on it at the same time. We will save you a ton of work and probably add great things you never thought of.
IRL Wikipedia is a great source of information on most topics. No, it's not 100 percent accurate or complete, but then again, show me something that is. Wikipedia is good enough for most purposes. And FTB is awesome and all, but there's no need to apply university standards to its documentation. Also, um, I can go in and change any information I want to on Wikipedia. That's why most universities don't accept it as a source.
I wasn't arguing that Wikipedia isn't a good source of information. More so saying all information you get from it should be taken with a grain of salt.IRL Wikipedia is a great source of information on most topics. The benefits of public editing are:
- The public will do most of the grunt work.
- Most of it will be reasonably accurate because it's self-correcting.
- Mod authors and "official" wiki authors are free to correct anything that's wrong, and it's easy. Standards can still be enforced.
- It's more democratic. It doesn't promote a system of (for lack of a better term) "haves" and "have-nots."
- It allows the genius of the community to bubble up in unexpected places.
