"Magic Tech" for me.
I need a space station with magic lasers beaming all around, and massive hangars to store vehicles.

I am a brute force player. I play with everything, but never do it efficiently. Need more power? Just means I need more engines. Not enough disk space in my AE system? I could go about pre formatting my stuff or I could just make more drives.

Im a techo-builder, engineer and collector
I Disable/Ignore all magic-related mods. I start a world with something large to build, automating almost everything along the way. Meanwhile automated mining is constantly collecting resources. One of these days I will get 1million iron ingots in storage, and automate the automated mining.

I have mainly been about thaumcraft and TT and getting situated with that. A silk touch or fortune pickaxe of the core and some decent armor is all I need. That and a staff of the primal (or reed) with a lightning focus. Most of the other mods are used to fill in the few holes that thaumcraft still has.

I do normally use TE for ore doubling, as I can set it up earlier.

My farms have to be 100% automatable for me to set them up. even rube Goldberg complex is fine, but the can't use outside resources to keep running.

Builder at heart.
I treat tech and magic mods as means to achieve ends or to add utility to my builds. Sure a neat looking tower is awesome on its own but when it houses a complete Thaumcraft setup it's just... better. Same goes when you build a factory building, you can't call it a factory until you have a bunch of Mekanism machines inside making a complete racket churning out metal.
I am more exited when an aesthetic mod is added to a pack (AKA Chisel), a tech mod that adds a nifty looking block gets my attention.

Essentially I use functional mods to furnish my builds when most do it the other way around. I try to get my form equal with function first, it slows my machines down but I can't build any other way.

However I do have a bit of an explore now and then.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I love seeing your guys's response - and how pretty much everyone has their own way to play, which really is what makes this game amazing. :D

I'm a 'Wannabe-Builder' myself, I invest way too much time in the aesthetics side of my builds - and the result is not even that good. :S

I centralize all my vital systems, to which my entire base plan is connected/planned around. I have a central bank of energy cells, which all power sources within my base feed into. This way, all of my systems can utilize all of the potential power that my base can generate. It is the most efficient use of resources, aside from the fact that my base has in between floors which are purely dedicated to getting my energy conduits/ME system around my base. I also use a substantial amount of ME cable/conduits.

Mostly tech, with magic as a more of just something to pass the time when I run out of other projects to do.

I also automate most processes with AE and TE3. Alone, they're pretty good for automation, but together they're great. Not much of a builder, though. I usually stick to either digging underground or into a mountain.

Though, I tried something new this time, and went for building in the sky.

I'm more of a magic and Tinker Construct player but like to use machines to handle the orbs processing and mob grinding. I like to tinker into Ars Magica and Thaumcraft because of the cool crafting methods and non-mechanical feel (It's also because I believe that magic is superior to technology :3), and I like to use TC for their customization tools and berry bushes . Also if there's a bug or glitch that can be exploited... I'm gonna take advantage of it while it lasts (Duplication is kinda of a no-no for me though).
I tend to want to turn my avatar into a super-Steve, so mods like Advanced Genetics and items like Ars Magica's Earth Armor are on my list to explore/use.

Opposite for me. Tech will always be superior, in my opinion. While that warlock/witch/whatever can throw fireballs and lightning at you, they're still not going to have a very nice day when a Gatling gun decides to point their way and open fire.

Also, as far as Minecraft is concerned, I keep finding magic to be dependent on technology, due to technology being vastly superior in collecting and processing resources.

I imagine really cool systems and automated stuff I want to build with different mods, mostly tech mods.
Then I spend all my play time trying to figure out and then building the actual room for it instead of bulding the actual machines and things. Then I get quite tired of the game before I really get going with the mods...

Magic mods are catching up though. Thaumcraft has automatic mining, a very stylish ore-doubling mechanic, automatic farming and a few other things. The problem is that it's very complicated to automate and by its nature limited in processing speed. Even so, If it wasn't for the problematic pathfinding of golems which makes them useless for tree farms and similar things, I would probably have a complete automated farming setup using only Thaumcraft resources and Logistics Pipes. Including the speeding up of growth.

I usually decide on a theme and base rules for myself off of that theme, so that all my worlds don't go up exactly the same as the last one.

And then I try to build all of my factory so that it fits in thematically with the aesthetic build. I mostly just use tech mods though.

My problem is that once I get excited about a build, every aspect of it gets so well theorycrafted that in my head its already built. So it gets a bit tedious actually implementing it in world.

Especially when the duct I was expecting to run through that wall cant because it intersects with an existing conduit, and now I have to redo the whole thing, ok I give up, it was so much more elegant in my head.

Yeah I never finish a build

Im a lazy player with big ideas. The plan usually goes: build a nice little starter base and later move to a really epic themed build later on. Like a city or a space station or something. But I always end up getting entrenched in that first area and the idea of moving seems too much like work. Ive built quite a few really nice looking half finished and unused structures.
