Hey!

I hoped to get better FPS in the Monster pack when i bought new things for my computer.
This is my computer:
Motherboard: ASUS Z97-A
GPU: GK PC PCIe HD7970 3GB
CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K 4GHz, 8MB
RAM: Corsair 8GB (KIT) DDR3 1333MHz/CL9/1,6V./XMS3
HDD: SSD 128GB Samsung SATA 2.5'', Retail 830-Series
HDD2: HD500GB WD SATA2 32MB Caviar, Black, 7200RPM
DVD: SAMSUNG DVD±R/RW/RAM SLIM 8X BLACK USB 2.0
PSU: Corsair HX 650W PSU

Playing Monster pack still gives me 20-30 FPS

How is it possible that some get over 100FPS when playing. Is it just that they must have a much faster computer compared to me?

That is a really good cpu. As pong as it is cooled properly (I.e liquid cooling)

No it is not cooled with liquid. However a good air cooler, not stock. Noctua NH-U14S

And how can the cooler lower my fps, when playing the cpu is not going at 100% and tem is under 65 degrees.

if you had a bad cooler, thermal throttling.

Those computer specs are flawless for Minecraft. Your problem is not hardware-based; you should be getting way more FPS than you do. For example, I too have an Intel CPU clocked nearly the same and a Radeon GPU in the same performance range, and I'm getting three-digit FPS numbers all the time in 1.6.x based packs.

You can test for thermal throttling on the CPU with small freeware programs like CoreTemp. Start that up, then go play Minecraft for 10-15 minutes, then alt+tab out and look at where your temperatures are. If they're above 80°C, your cooler is installed wrong and your CPU is throttling. With a properly installed cooler however, the temperatures will be significantly lower. Okay, apparently you did that already, good.

Other performance improving steps:
- If you have more than 2GB RAM assigned in the FTB launcher, lower that slider back down to 2GB at maximum. Often people tend to assign way more than they need, and it will cause performance degradation from overhead without giving any benefit.
- If you are running any custom JVM arguments, remove them and see if it made a difference. If you don't know what JVM arguments are, then don't worry about them.
- Running Optifine? Try uninstalling it. On some systems it increases performance, on some systems it lowers performance. And with your hardware, it should never be necessary.
- Running shaders, dynamic lighting and/or big texture packs? Try removing those. Maybe one of them is secretly a giant FPS killer when mixed together with one of the others. I've seen it happen before for no particular reason.
- Turn "Advanced OpenGL" off in your ingame settings if it is not already off. It eats performance without giving any visible benefit.
- Test with a fresh new world. Maybe something in your old world is causing massive performance degradation, while a new world is perfectly fine. In that case, try adding the Opis mod to troubleshoot your old world. May require some under-the-hood knowledge, although it's still far easier to handle than barebones JVM profiling. Try looking up video tutorials on youtube.

Try downloading game booster (you can get it here). I don't know how big of a difference it'll make for minecraft, but it can't hurt.

My PC specs aren't quite as good as yours, but I still manage a constant 60fps (probably more it if was unlocked) with 165 mods, and on 1.7.10 (which needs more power than 1.6.4, apparently). It has to be a software problem, I just wish I knew what exactly.

also minecraft only ever uses 1 core (it's not multithreaded) so check each core to see if it gets maxed

Well it seems ppl think i got good enough hardware. But i still get low fps. Ill test on vanilia MC tonight. And tamper more with settings. Dont get how some can claim to have 100+ fps... And streaming/recording at the same time...

Make sure VSync is off. Also, make sure your computer is using your GPU, not the integrated, and that the GPU drivers are installed correctly. I had similar issues, and it turned out my graphics card drivers had not installed correctly.

I always keep VSync on as it actually makes everything smoother and it is useless to get more performance then what your monitor can refresh anyway.
