Bricks, so much better IMO.
I've always been partial to bricks and aesthetic builds and have never personally liked things like construction foam or RP2 lamps, to bland and boring to me.

I like the construction foam, although I dislike the floor so maybe something different for that. We've got enough marble/basalt rooms on my server that it's gotten old, fairly quickly.

I find marble/basalt way too overused. The first image has a clean, clinical feel to it - a laboratory, a modern-style structure. The second one looks more like a dungeon.

I'd recommend stone slabs or concrete (Railcraft) for the floor.

Well 1. It's my SSP world. so it's not like I'm on a server with other people. & I can't think of another cool Floor material. & I won't use wood, Cobble & Stone
I like the construction foam Idea to. cause thee cleaner look. but it's more expensive than Marble & Basalt Bricks..

The trick to any build is to not overuse any material. If you have a feel you're going for, tell us what it is, I'd probably be able to help a little more, so would the others on this thread.

CF is great for explosions and the like. It either explodes one or no blocks when a creeper explodes on it. Also, lighting and wire hiding can be used (though not buildcraft facades or redalloy/blulectricity because it can't be turned into covers). Even mods you're going to use can be helpful, you see.

But with no input, I like the CF.

I'm looking for a clean design. I'm making a underground base & this is what thee Idea we come up with is what I plan on using for the hallways. I want it to feel like a lab. That's why i like the CF idea

Definitely the CF, maybe luminators, but if EU's scarce, use the redpower lights. But you should really do something with the floor, it doesn't fit too nicely. If you could afford Reinforced Stone? Actually, I'm not sure. You'll have to experiment, I'd probably use CF for the bottom too, all white or all another color (not black or white).

Yea, the floor is the thing I'mma have to think about...I don't want the CF. I guess cause variety? But I'm pretty sure there's not many clean blocks. so I might have to

Depends on your over all theme. I'd go with the foam if you want a hightech look but I'd go bricks or almost anything else.

Normal stone brick floors w/ a mix of cobble & mossy stone to go with the marble and basalt if you are going for a not-so-prestine/new look:

Also added inverted redstone lamps(black) into the roof for lighting
Notes Just realized it is 4x4, but that doesn't change the overall effect

Fixed it. Changed the inverted redstone lamps to light greys:

And with luminators:

Words of advice: Build using odd numbers.

Honestly, it depends on what you are using that hallway for, the foam looks more futuristic, while the marble/basalt looks more modern.

If you have the resources/patience, you could try using inverted redpower lamps in the floor. I think they'd blend/tile well, and would mean that you could easily light the room without needing to break the patterns.

Construction Foam allows you to embed IC2 wiring inside it. Very useful for hiding wires.

Also useful for powering machines, since you can make powered floor and set down a machine and voila, it has power.

I wish it worked on Tubes and BC Pipe too.

Alright, that looks pretty nice. Good job, you did this alone :)

I like how you largened the hallways. underground (and in any place with no windows), space often becomes an issue. Until some mod invents a mirror to make everything look bigger (mirrors increase how big an area looks), you'll just have to buckle down and mine those extra blocks. If anyone has come up with an idea that allows you to make a place look bigger than it really is, I'd love to see it. What I do is minimize hallways and make everything open. With no walls, and the borders between rooms just having a slight increase or decrease in height, everything feels a little bigger in my opinion.

I'm wondering, grey would be too bland. White and black produce the clean look, but white and another color or black and another color could produce another effect. Perhaps try white and blue, or purple and white. Black and anything doesn't feel as clean, unless it's dark grey. Maybe dark grey and blue? But I like the first ones. Even white and red could work! I'm going to stop naming colors, because anything with white will make it feel clean.
