I'm too lazy to see if this has been said yet, but eh, I'd say it anyway
Install Witchery, learn Witchery, do everything in Witchery.

Or do that with any other big mod. You could also just pick a mod you haven't played with before that is already in Monster and learn it. You won't have to deal with the resource struggle since you already have "so many that you don't know what to do", so yeah.

Its mostly powers of 2, so if you know 1,2,4,8,16,32, etc. then you will be perfectly fine in RoC.

Just keep a calculator handy, so you can easy get the exact numbers for the big numbers, e.g: 2^16=65536, not 64,000 and 2^12=4096, not 4000. Mostly used for setting speeds on industrial coils. It's mostly addition, ratios (2:1 gearbox will run the output twice as fast at half the torque, or vice versa), and a bit of smart thinking. Specifically getting the extractor to run optimally for all stages, by toggling it's input from FAST and less torque, to notasfast, but enough torque for the other stages.

Make sure to keep all of Reika's mods up to date. He's been implementing many performance improvements as well as new features. (Seriously, look at his version 25 changelog.)

You and me both, bud. I just got into it recently, and even put a pack together centered around not being able to use anything for anything unless it's RoC or its addons :p
Please hook me up with this :D

In monster, learn blood magic, then thaumcraft, then roc, then rec, then every other mods from bottom to top!

If you follow just the tech progression in (modded) minecraft you are always going to come short, as, ultimately all the tech mods boil down to a set of tiers, where each tier is required to reach the next tier. And when you reach the last tier there is nothing left to do.

They do, along the way, allow you to process raw materials into decorative blocks, and store those blocks, and in some cases automatically deploy those blocks. So, Vanilla or Modded, Minecraft always ends up at the place where you just need to build something decorative to go further.

At which point I do a forum search for @rhn and try and copy what I see.

PS. If/when starting from scratch - Instead of starting a new world, dump all (ALL!!!) your gear in a chest. Switch to creative, and fly to a totally new location several km away from you existing stuff. Make it your new spawn point, and start there again, focusing on a different set of mods as your bootstrap.

What I would do is pick something to make, and then build a factory to make it as over the to cool looking as you can. Like use Item canons from openblocks to fire into hoppers that send this items into be crafted into something new, and just keep making it bigger and cooler then before, until you get to the point that you fill a DSU from MFR with that one item. :D

Appreciating all the answers guys! It really is helping me to do more diversity and get better at building! I went into rotarycraft blindly because why not right? It was fun, even though the gas turbines sucked cows into them causing a catastrophic failure blowing my entire house up but I am so happy! I figured out how to make jet fuel and I get to start a new world now as my house is completely demolished. I really appreciate everything you guys have done, if you wish to post more answers I would be appreciative as I like to read all the replies for what everyone does. <3
