I don't see the point of that. The way it's working is just fine. If shazam feels like he no longer wants to maintain it, then someone will start a new thread for werewolf stuff. That works just fine and I see no need to switch the maintainer if shazam is perfectly fine with running things.

And that brings me to another point: you can't just give a thread to someone else. This isn't the first organization thread. It used to be run by somebody else (can't remember who and can't be bothered to look it up) and we tried to get the thread transferred to shazam, but it just wasn't possible so this thread was born. And I just don't see the point in making a new thread each year just because. Shazam is doing an amazing job running this outfit. We'd be changing that to someone who will likely do a worse job at it for like no reason.

So do you have any good reasons why the thread's maintainer should be cycled? Because I can't think of any and I'm interested to hear your reasoning.
You are genuinely respectful. Also, I know that J made the first organisation thread. That's exactly why I got that thought. We know that FTB is a team, and it will end. J had his turn. Shaz had his turn. But nobody else has, and that's why I said that at all.
You both are right. J that was a joke, if I got the thread. It would be bullcrap to veteran players. I was saying give the thread to somebody every year. So yeah.
That is serious, why would I get the thread. Also, completely off-topic. Pad, do you like observe everything I comment or some stuff?

Thank you, I try. I find that there's usually no need for harsh words.

Well you're new, so you don't know the history of the FTB werewolf community. Can't exactly fault you for that. In the beginning, a member called Eunomiac made the first werewolf game on these forums. It wasn't quite like how it is now, but people continued to host games. Until at one point, it just stopped. I don't know (or can't remember) why it stopped, it just did. Thus endeth the first era of FTB werewolf. The second era (what we're in now) was started by a user named Staxed. He hosted a few games until it picked up enough steam to run on its own. At this point, there was no organization thread. People were informed of new games by the next hoster posting in the newly completed game's thread. Everything was unofficial, unrecorded, and unorganized. J stepped in, made an organization thread for the queue and game announcements, as well as general out of game werewolf chat. Then he went on a werewolf break, and tried contacting a moderator to transfer the thread over to shazam (who had volunteered to do it) and was basically told it can't be done. So he made this thread. And started the ping list, the tools, the blank spreadsheet everyone uses, the easter eggs and the jokes, and is generally great at everything.

The point to take away from this is that the maintainer of the thread is changed based on necessity, not election. If shazam says one day "yo I'm done with this, can someone take over?" then someone else will make a new thread to maintain. This works just fine. Just note that the FTB team has absolutely nothing to do with this community. The only link is that we happen to use their forums. If the forums die, the community will likely transfer to bulbagarden or something, maybe going as far as making a forum just for us.

And I can see where you're coming from. You see that the thread has changed hands before and were wondering if the thread would switch hands again. But rest assured it shall not. The thread is shazam's until he no longer wishes to maintain it. At which point we'll decide amongst ourselves who the next organizer should be.

So none of you play Minecraft or FTB modpacks anymore? :p

I was actually going to suggest some Werewolf - Minecraft PvP hybrid tournament, but I guess that's off the table now... :p

Not that I really thought about how to combine those in any way yet. :D

Kill la Kill, really? ...
  • So the auction is pretty much shooting in the dark? As everyone will be placing their bids in their role convo instead of in the main thread this way. Well, that would prevent the wolves from standing out for saving their money for the black market of course...
  • Hmm, maybe, instead everyone should start with 10 credits on average, with a standard deviation of 1 credit? Just to get some deviation in the game early on?
As such, one very unlucky player could start with 7 credits, while some super duper lucky guy could start with 15?
  • Also, maybe there should be some random priority queue on the auctions, instead of the rule that people who bid overbid their capital in total can not compete in any auction.
    Example:
    • Person 1 has 15 credits.
    • He bids 8 credits on item 1, 2 and 3 (This would be very stupid)
    • The random priority of these items is 1, then 2, then 3
    • He loses auction 1, he still has 15 credits left
    • He wins auction 2, gaining item 2, he now has 7 credits left
    • He can not compete in the auction for item 3 anymore, since he doesn't have 8 credits anymore
  • Speaking of lovers. I'd like the idea of adding love potions as a one-time auctionable item.
  • Shouldn't the handgun return part of its cost if it actually kills a Killer (if town) or a town (if Killer)?
Oh and I like the idea. It's something very different than I'm wont to. Wonder how it'll turn out.

Hey, so having rejoined, I had a little concept pop up in my head for a game. I present...Auctionwolf version 1.0!
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UTH54fLh34jbvUM59JG1kzTA5EoOY-Ch4t22dmicuE4/edit?usp=sharing

This sheet is subject to change, as I am considering throwing in my classic tweaks of lovers/star-crossed lovers. Thoughts so far?
I like it! Cool concept. The auction's a new twist without being crazy game-breaking.

Questions:
  1. "All players will start with 10 gold coins, with killers sharing the same number of coins.": Could you clarify how many coins the killers have? Does each killer start with ten coins, or do the killers as a whole have a pool of ten coins?
  2. "...whilst Killers earn coins for each successful kill.": How many coins per kill?
  3. Data Hack: Can the killers alter an information file that's up for auction that day? Can they alter a file that hasn't shown up at all yet?
  4. Design question: Why's it a silent auction (through role convos) instead of a public one (in the main thread)? You could get a lot of information from how people bid.
  5. Want me to add you to the queue?
