Alright guys, I'm here to voice an opinion:

We've had quite a few games of werewolf recently. I've noticed that they've gotten more and more complex as the games have gone by. Some of them are borderline-not-even-werewolf anymore. Also, more recently we've had a slight number drop as people get tired / have real world commitments / are too weak to continue.

So I have a proposition. Introducing : SSWG ( aka Super Simple Werewolf Game).

This is a game designed solely to be simple, while still retaining the bare minimum of power roles. No alts, no crazy role interactions, nada. Simplicity at its best.

This is a game for helping people understand and master the basics of he said/she said lying and accusing that we all fear from the really good players, and hopefully an opportunity for somebody else to learn VikeStep's feared "Let's think about it" speeches. This is also a game for inviting people. Tell your friends about it. Get them to play. As many as possible. If we have to many, we can just split it into multiple simultaneous games. Seriously. Get everybody to play.

Think about it (I promise I'm not Vike), give me some feedback, and tell me what you think. Please keep it civil though. I'm fragile.

The detective role would be so op in a game like that, why not have no power roles at all?

I figure that would be a bit boring
also incredibly difficult for the villagers. The thing is, in a normal simple game, the wolves know exactly who their enemies and allies are. They know that without a doubt. The villagers can never be certain. So from the start, they have an upper hand. Powers lets the villagers get more information, and give their side a boost.

Then there's the fact that with no powered roles, everyone's basically a villager. So lying is incredibly easy for the wolves, because if you aren't a wolf, you're a villager. So everyone would reveal as a villager and you wouldn't be able to prove otherwise.

If you want to replace your current spot on the queue with this game, you can switch spots with me. My game could be really simple and boring, or it could get absolutely batshit frakking insane. I'm going to assume the latter. Better to get everyone warmed up with something nice and simple before what may be a complete train wreck.

I was considering having very few power roles (bodyguard, wizard, jester, maybe 1-3 more) for the game where everyone uses an alt for which somebody else gets the email notifications. Not much point in having any kind of spy/medium/detective in that game, since everyone is spying on somebody, and if that somebody happens to be dead, they're now spying on the dead convo. Also, it will probably be the first game I GM, and I don't want to overwhelm myself.

Fraction would have 2 games in a row then,

Also @Fraction2 i like the idea to get more players involved, i just have problem with simple games so don't see me tryharding in it ^_^ How more complicate it is how harder i try, But that is just my opinion. Not saying you / someone else shoudn't do it

What i think would be more awesome is some more themed games, Like a game, Or a movie, Or an anime. whatever.
Cause we are getting more complex games. But all just with the same roles and powers and just the few extra rules to make it more complicate

Yeah, but with themes it's a bit hard, cause if you take a movie for example, some people can't play because they didn't see the movie. The same thing with animes, or Games. So, it's really hard to create a good Themed game, where everyone can play, who wants to play. But the Idea is good. It's just that not everyone can play, even tho they would like to play.

You could probably pull it off if you basically just cast a normal WW game into a theme by naming roles, backstory, etc. after characters and settings in the movie/game (as ljfa did in the villagers vs. zombies thing) or by creating roles that more closely align with characters in the movie, similar to what Shazam did with the current game. This way, players wouldn't actually need to know much about the movie itself to play the game, although they might miss some of the references.

Thats what i mean. I hope my pokegame is not to complicated

The main ww aspect of it is:
Everyone knows the possible abilities of the other (If they look it up)
But everyone can be an wolf

edit: Thats why there is a huge ability list, So its not obvious what everyone has

Wait, what? How would he have two games in a row? You misunderstand. Here's the current list:
  1. Trajing's cool hodgepodge game has the misfortune of following Shazam.
  2. Goreae's experimental ho!
  3. Fraction2's Youth Pastor of Lycan.
  4. Dylan prepares to throw down in the Rap Battle of Wakkerdam.
  5. Exedra's got an ace in the hole with Dicewolf.
  6. Dylan returns for the Rap Battle of Pallet Town
Here's what I'm suggesting:

  1. Trajing's cool hodgepodge game has the misfortune of following Shazam.
  2. Fraction2's Stupidly Simple!
  3. Goreae's Experimental Ho!
  4. Dylan prepares to throw down in the Rap Battle of Wakkerdam.
  5. Exedra's got an ace in the hole with Dicewolf.
  6. Dylan returns for the Rap Battle of Pallet Town
Then fraction can add his priest of lycan whatever to the end of the queue.

I did consider one where everyone is essentially a wolf. :D

But I have enough on my plate, so I'm letting it ferment first.
