I doubt the wolves deliberately targeted PeggleFrank. I suspect PeggleFrank's role---what with its reference to the Pied Piper---involved some ability to redirect or attract targets to himself. Looking at his actions during the first day through this lens, doesn't it look like someone
trying to attract lynch votes and/or get the attention of any Seers, etc.? Considering the myth of the Pied Piper, his win condition may even have depended on it. Whether his death factored into that plan, or was his plan backfiring, is a whole 'nother question though.
Ok Eunomiac, it's time for another question and answer session. Now that I've found out Peggle wasn't a werewolf, that leaves you as a very active person in the discussions so far...which of course is either very good, or very bad. And while I overlooked it yesterday (though it did cross my mind), I now have to make my thoughts on this matter public.
Oh dear. Can we get confirmations from any other villagers? I may have just blundered behind closed doors.
Or maybe not confirmations --- we don't want all our villagers revealing themselves, raising the odds the Seer might be killed. It's possible the_j485 was just speaking from past Mafia experience. Dammit, Staxed, why couldn't you have posted that five minutes earlier?
If you are a villager...why did you say this? If you are a villager, you should have known that us villagers are called villagers and not civilians. Your quote above almost seems like a desparate attempt to cover up your mistake after I pointed it out. Explain?
Certainly. And please ask for more if this answer doesn't satisfy you; I may have missed a component of your question. (When you talk as much as I do in a game, the only way to deflect suspicion is to be
absolutely clear and consistent in everything you say and do, and I realize this.)
I have been honest from the beginning about the fact that I am NOT a villager:
I am on the villager team, but I'm not a generic villager/civilian. It would help the werewolves more than it would help the villagers if I revealed more; I need the wolves in the dark and don't mind if they know it. I'm happy to be a sacrificial lamb to protect our Seer on the first night, as I suspect I'll be an early target anyways---wolves don't like people who talk sense.
So I wouldn't know one way or the other what villagers are called in this game, for my card says something different.
To elaborate a bit more on my thinking with this whole civilian/villager thing: I'd just come off GM'ing my own Werewolf game, where villagers were called "Villagers", and "Villager" is the only name I know of for that role. This is why the_j485's mention of "civilian" stuck out at me---it's literally the first time I'd heard that term. I immediately thought, "oh, maybe they're called 'Civilians' in this game." Which led to: "Wait, how would the_j485
know , unless he
was a 'Civilian'?"
When no one responded at the time to say "wait a minute, I'm a /Villager/, not a Civilian!", I assumed I was correct... until you posted, stating that "Villager"
was the term being used in this game, and not Civilian.
The "maybe blunder" I mentioned was this: I revealed my role to the_j485 in a private message not five minutes before you posted that, on my flawed theory that I had accurately identified a 'Civilian'. (It's only a "maybe" because, as I mentioned, it's possible the_j485 is just reverting to Mafia lingo since that's what he's familiar with.)
