As I said above, I'm relatively new to the scene, so I haven't had time to grow all that bitter. Give me some time... ;)

I personally find TC4 tedious, and despite several attempts I just cannot make myself spend more than an hour with it before moving onto something more my level of play.

However I also respect that the mod is brilliantly designed. There are few mods I would rank as high as TC4 in terms of the sheer amount of thought, attention and balance its had. Its extremely fun for those who like magic mods, and there are hordes of players who will flat-out refuse to play a pack without it.

Correct. Isn't it fantastic?

But certainly not for everyone. Casual gamers, those who want to sit down and go from caveman to nuclear scientist in a matter of days, should stay away.

I agree Im one of those players when it comes to tc4, i just turn the research to easy, ive done it more than enough times the right way.

I feel similar for gtech as you do about tcraft, its got some amazing things within and is well crafted but man does it eat up time.

I actually find easy mode research to be harder then the "hard mode". Easy mode forces you to use research points you probably don't have much of, but hard mode allows you more choice. Easy mode is actually more tedious when you find yourself lacking a specific kind of research point. waiting for your research table to net you the primals you need to make a compound aspect is tedious, especially when you also have alike a bajillion Terra Vitreus and metalum sitting there being useless.

Resurrection is the first pack with a slow enough tech progression to tempt me to play with TC4. I had tried to get into it in my Monster days, but there was so many other (low hassle) ways of getting the same outcome in that pack that I simply couldn't bear it. Now, it occasionally feels like TC is the faster way go do some things with less headache.

My friend who loves TC said it best, "You don't dabble in Thaumcraft. You're either a Thaumaturge or you aren't."

Easiest way to get research Points Crafting tables into deconstructing table. gets you everything but ignis

Pyure you seem to enjoy GT a great deal, and defend it with a passion. This is a good thing.

Unfortunately, you don't seem to be able to defend it without some offhanded remark about "casuals" or otherwise belittling those who do not enjoy GT.

Whether or not other players enjoy GT has nothing to do with you, and running them down to massage your own ego is just sophomoric. Forum culture and format often encourages this behavior, but I feel like you can do better.

I look forward to you sharing your knowledge and being helpful without the slights against others and false dichotomies. People might even be more likely to give GT some effort if the constant and unrelenting culture of exclusive superiority changes.

Pyure, I appreciate the posts you have made in this thread. Just offering some outside perspective.

I think tech mods could use a bit more of the old craft machines to craft machine parts so you can...well you know. But from everything I have seen (and even played for a bit) GT takes that idea to ridiculous extremes. I dont particularly enjoy vanilla minecraft anymore which is why I add mods to liven up the experience. I dont want to spend ages clawing my way out of vanilla mechanics, walking super slow, mining one block at a time, manual chest sorting, etc. I mean, to me the early modded-game requirements for ender pearls and blaze rods is the most annoying thing ever and sometimes makes me wonder why I even bother playing.

And if I am craving a "hardcore challenge" then I turn minecraft off and play a real game.

Greetings Tex, good insight.

This isn't actually a difference of opinion here but a difference of perspective, or perhaps of impression. The vast majority of minecraft players fit into a generic, stereotyped category of casual players who don't care about 99% of the things I care about in minecrafting. This isn't any kind of slight. They are not inferior. Some players just play differently than others.

Categorizing people is always dangerous, particularly since someone might be "casual" one day and not the next. And nobody wants to be labeled, but some people are casual minecraft players just as I'm a casual player of other games.

Regarding feelings of superiority: this is tricky because objectively some mods are more difficult to play than others, whether its due to resource acquisition issues, grinding, twitch, aesthetical challenges or whatever. People who put the time in to overcome these challenges, of any kind, have earned the privilege of feeling smug about their accomplishments.

It's as easy as watching grass grow though.

I'm assuming here you are referencing me and Pyure's, Uh disagreement? Was that what it was? I don't even think it qualifies as an argument? Greg Tech isn't for your "casual" player its for your mildly obsessive player. A casual player is someone like me who spends an hour or two a day or so just dorkin around. The only people who really use it as an insult are people who think they are skilled at a game usually with some form of ranking because they either have the time to put into being slightly better than some people or because they think they are the best evar! There is nothing wrong with being called a casual gamer.

Pyure seems like a fairly intelligent, and eloquent individual, and from his comments towards me I doubt he thinks that casual gaming is the root of all gaming evil.

Pyure is the forum comedian :p

Going to weigh in with my two cents here, mostly in defence of two mods I love that have been classed as tedious.

The easiest way to grind through Blood magic slates in the early game and to grind through Thaumcraft research? Put some music on and alternate. Drain your health bar into the altar, and then go research a couple of things until your health regenerates. If you have the patience to use hard mode research, you require far fewer research points to do stuff (especially considering the sheer amount of instrumentum needed in some cases on normal/easy mode research). Once your health has regenerated, go drain it some more.

It's not the most exciting play session, but it makes for a great chillout session at times, and frontloading your Thaumcraft research makes the rest of the game much more straightforwards.

Don't hijack threads. @Padfoote has a nice blood magic guide in the Mod Discussion forum. Perhaps that would be a better place for your answers.

On topic: Does anyone have a good item transport options with included filtering? I have golems sorting chests hooked up to various subsystems, but it is a bit... clunky. Never thought I would miss TE itemducts so much.

Yeah I thought it didn't fit but I didn't know that it wasn't in the pack. I just saw someone posted about it. I couldn't find a thread entirely related to my topic so I would appreciate if someone answered anyway
In this instance it would be appropriate to initiate a new thread, or ask your question in Ask a simple question, get a simple answer, rather than inquire on a random thread.

Doesn't resurrection have good old BC? Diamond pipes offer filtering, like 9 slots of it too which is nice (compared to eio basic filter of 5)
