I played 1.5 when it was released to see what it was like, I punched a tree, made some tools and promptly logged out cos there was nothing to make lol

Now at least I have Buildcraft/Forestry/Thermal Expansion and Applied Energistics on 1.5.1 so I can test properly ;)

Damn guys, you're just proving the guy who said modusers aren't creative right.

There is a lot to do in vanilla. What you're talking about is "beating the game". Which means you have the whole sandbox jig wrong.

I like mods more because I just don't care that much for what vanilla offers, I like my fidelity a bit higher than that.

Eh. I got my sister to play recently and she didn't want to get a modpack without knowing how to make anything.

Anyway, I've been playing Vanilla with her and it's fun. I still find myself pressing "n" (my fly key on MPS) and wishing for a macerator but I have somewhat of an autosmelter. It automatically put the item into a chest for me too.

The proof of the value in vanilla is demonstrated every time someone posts a jungle temple, desert temple, or witch hut and asks, "What is THIS I just found?"

To say that you aren't creative if you dont like to play the vanilla minecraft sandbox for long seems silly to me. Think of a real sandbox. If all you had were one bucket, a shovel, and a watering can, most people would eventually get bored.

Me, I liked to add bulldozers, cowboys and indians, and green army men and tanks to my sandbox. Then I'd spend hours setting up elaborate scenarios, roads and cities, and let everyone fight it out in one imaginary epic battle. Does it make me less creative because I added things to the vanilla sandbox? I dont think so.

If all I could do was use the bucket shovel and water to build then I'd rather be at the beach where there is more sand and water at my disposal.

Nice analogy.

Vanilla's fun. Especially survival superflat.
Vanilla Survival Superflat posed a goddamn impossible thing to do (few trees, no easily obtainable resources, midnight zombie invasion...). It's kind of a Last Man on Earth type of thing, and there's slimes EVERYMOTHERFUCKINGWHERE!
But it is fun.

Has my "Bag of Pretzels" turned into the FTB forum equivalent of a meme? I assume this is also a thing with Lambert's Irishness.
