There's a very good reason that GPUs are being co-opted to perform high-end scientific mathematical computations as co-processors these days...

Still...upwards of 1,000 FPS makes it seem like Minecraft just milks every bit of horsepower it can with only the OS limiting it. It just seems...inefficient and pointless. Free those clock cycles up for something else or give the GPU/CPU a breather.

Aren't those devalued to the point of being worthless, nowadays?

If your machine is efficient enough they are useful
But most machines have a net loss

There are alternatives to bitcoin, in particular Scrypt coins (theres many of them) are designed to be mined with video cards, and can be exchanged for bitcoin.

Anyways, don't want to derail the topic with cryptos :p, they have a bad enough reputation already :)
