I'm not sure it can be under Program Files. Try putting it somewhere else (try something like C:\FTB) and post again. :)

Have you tweaked your video settings at all? It defaults to super-intensive rendering stuff, which causes a lot of lag. Try setting some of your render settings down under video settings - if you're not sure what to change, just google it; I'm sure there's plenty of information out there.
Someone with more performance knowledge than I have might be able to tell you how low you need to set your stuff for it to work properly.

What version of Java are you using? Is it 64-bit? It's still possible to get the wrong version from Oracle since 32-bit is still the default download version. You have to drill deeper to get the 64-bit version.

If you have 64-bit and use version 1.8 you should be ok with the default memory settings. Anything older than 1.8 and you will have to tweak the FtB client to allow about 4GB for MC/Java. Add more if you use a large texture pack. Any more than this and Java will start puking on itself, slowing down for internal Java tasks.

If you use the Curse Voice loader (soon to be default for FtB) it logs in directly and loads MC from Mojang's server, which automatically loads the runtime of the appropriate version of Java for that version of MC.
