Windmills and watermills seem pretty silly given that the generator you make them with produces a lot more power if you just leave it as a generator and pump a tree farm into it. Maybe if the recipe gave you a dozen of them or something...

that's the same in vanilla ic2. they produce less because they are free and "fire and forget"
a tree farm plus a generator is pretty much fire and forget too and costs a lot less in early game resources and time to completely automate than setting up any sort of wind/water array. I suppose this is more a problem of dealing with balance between mods. But then again, that does seem to be at least part of what GregTech is about...

It's not about being hard IMO. It's about being annoying to do
And that's why the server I play on setup an AE system that solves all of that multi-layered crafting BS.

Oh you need a superConductiveWatsaMaHoosis? Click craft. Drink Some Coffee. Receive Gratification.

Yay for AE![DOUBLEPOST=1368184177][/DOUBLEPOST]
Seriously dude...
I mean the matter fabricator is easy as heck to get. I wish it required a couple more iridium plates
For basic machine casings I wish it was steel instead of iron used. and chrome for the second tier casings and iridium ingots for the highest tier...
It's not the resource cost, it's spending 85 minutes standing at a crafting table, crafting every single component I need for a <insert gregtech item name here>

yes, AE solves a lot of problems with crafting all that stuff. the real fun starts, if you are 95% done and find out that you need a few extra things in order to complete it.

on the other hand, recently I completed my first AE crafting system (this big multiblock structure). that thing took me quite some time to craft everything together... and it ate up nearly all my gold...

i started to LOVE greg mod. The best recipe is for normal IC2 solar panel. Combine it with the need of having uumatter & iridium for making advanced and the fun begin. But i personally think that hard recipe for solar panel is too weak. It should be more "hard recipe" like is for advanced solar in ASP. Also recipe for free energy machines like wind mill and water mill are honest - once you build them you get free energy. The recipe for industrial grinder is making me very angry - a lot of crafting and it's slow but results are worth the slowness of the machine. :) I wonder what Greg changed in 1.5.2 MC version.

Right? Used to be diamonds -> nether -> blast furnace -> steel -> advanced casings IBF.

Now it's basic IBF -> Nether -> advanced IBF and fuck railcraft in the eye.

Of course you'll be able to recycle the standart casings for a grinder / sawmill, but still.

I really debated on whether or not to reply to this, because I agree with you, but I was mainly referring to the fact that flint & iron works just fine IRL to start fires.:p
