Original post:
I decided to take on my largest project to date in MC.. a fully functional base in a spaceship hull built in a void mystcraft age!

This will probably be a WIP for a long time as I'm still fleshing out the design details of the ship itself. I wanted to make it solely out of iron blocks, then realized I'll never have quite that much iron so all metal of some sort or another but even then- that's a LOT of resources. I may just build out of stone brick or sandstone and later replace sections as I get the resources.

The base frame is now started, a 151x101 oval shape:
(nearly 2 stacks of iron blocks and 14 stacks of brass blocks used so far, I wasn't kidding about the LOT of resources required..)

I plan on making some progress on this every day and posting an update at least 2-3x a week.

Time for a massive update! After a couple false starts, I've been working on this ship fairly steadily for the last 2 weeks. Screenshots below.

Front of the ship, I'll build the bridge here soon. My factory is currently producing reinforced glass to finish the upper dome:

Underside, still need a LOT of brass, will probably change to iron at some point in the future:

Inside the dome this WIP is my arboretum, my son built the hill on the left with a small waterfall and stream and also the pond on the right:

Top hull as seen from the back. ALMOST done!!

My thaumcraft room in the center of the saucer also still very much a WIP. I use crystals to recharge the VIS, and a pure bee in the alveary to help with flux. The node is just behind the enderchest:

I have 4 sections like this to build various rooms- 2 stories:

My current factory. Input processing on the right, most of the autocrafting and secondary machinery is on the left. Swapping out most of the RP2 stuff for AE has really reduced the size and complexity of the system quite a bit. I had to build a couple GT Charge-o-mats to keep my armor charged up as the roof now blocks out the sun preventing my solar helmet from working.
This will ALL be relocated when I build the engineering section of the ship.

My (hopefully) explosion proof AE storage area (with a few Quantum chests). The ME cable snakes up, down, left & right through a small maze in the section not covered in warded glass, then goes under the stone blocks up to the main saucer section.

I decided after building a couple sample floors that the hull isn't even close to large enough. The floors will be 3 high with a 2 high "attic" for pipes/tubes/redstone.

Solution:

Double the hull size (need to fill in the oval)!

Time for a massive frames tunnel bore. Bedrock skim and 100 tall sound good? How about 20 wide and a few enderchests across the back to manage sorting. Maybe two enderchest colorings to handle the influx! And at least 4 Sorting Machines!

Try multiple copies of something like the processing setup in this Factorization thread: http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/anyone-else-loving-factorization.2781/
A few additions/modifications and you'll have blocks pumping into an enderchest bag. :)

A random mystcraft age piled with easy terrain for a bore...or if you're feeling daring, pile in dense ores, charged, and meteors, then keep remaking it until you get one with corruption that won't bother a tunnel bore. Pull that off and you'd probably be set. :D

That's brutal man, you'll spend forever on that behemoth.

I'm going to try a filler to get the base filled in. If it works, this may not be nearly as bad as it looks!

I do need to learn frames.. I'll stick with my quarry output for the time being though!

I wish the the best of luck on that.

Same on your build!

You might want to run EE3 for this... transmute all the cobble from the quarries into iron for more building blocks.

Of course, you'll need a mob grinder for the minium shards.

Figured out the filler, that will be a MASSIVE timesaver. Also would have died MANY times already if not for my grav suit.

Tomorrow I hope to have the base platform done and maybe start setting up some machinery so I can cut down on traveling back and forth to my main base. Probably going to build a few cobble generators feeding into furnaces feeding into a packager for local stone brick manufacturing and move my quarry output/processing system to here.I'll set up a liguid transposer system to feed biofuel to the ship and build a liquid boiler for some BC power. Replacing the outer hull (once built) with metal of some sort will be a priority.

It's so large, it goes past my render settings :)

I wish there was some mod that allowed you to select what got rendered. So for example, you want most stuff rendered on normal distance, but you want to see all cobble and iron blocks from extreme render distance.

Some frames, a caterpillar setup for the engines, and a bonus for using MFFS to shield your ship.

If you want to decorate, you can always use some covers instead of blocks, to limit the size of the shuttle.

You got it in one slay. It has a little detachable drop pod in the center, which only goes up and down for mining trips(see Saices thread for further info).

reminds me of dw20's frame spaceship in season 4. Bye bye endermen
