well, depending on whether you use the IC2 mass fabricator or the GT matter fabricator...
Mass Fabricator creates 1 UU matter for every 1m EU or 166,666 EU when fed a constant supply of scrap.

Indeed, and if you are lucky, you'll find some supplies that will help with railcraft stuff. As mentioned, I found a load of creosite oil bottles, track and steel in chests. Didn't need a coke oven to get my tree farm up.
click the link that I posted. UU can be turned into Iron (5 UU per 2 Iron ORE) and Copper (3 UU per 5 Copper ORE) and a whole load besides
