Also, @the_j485, you kind of overlooked the fact that I actually passed by the maintenance closet, hence "beyond it". I was expecting a description, but that's fine, I guess. I'll just describe the next area as a generic hall or whatever. How does four rooms per hall sound? Maybe two halls per floor, eight rooms per floor sounds about right.
