"Jess, did you know that the bathroom door has some swears in romanian?"
"I knew that it had some words written in the door, but not that they were swears. And Moped, I didn't knew you could read in romanian."
"Nor did I. Anyway, I am actually kind of glad we raided the store. So many books... And also, do we have any power outlets in here?"
"G, trailers are supposed to be mobile homes. Of course they have power outlets."
"That's great. Anyway, it's who's turn to make dinner today?"
"Yours."
"Then we're having rice with beans."
"What the hell is that?"
"Brazilian food."
"C'mon, why do you always have to do food from your country?"
"Because you guys like it?"
"Good point."
"Where are the girls?"
"Asleep. You know, it's their shift in the morning."
"Sure. Can I talk to you guys?"
"Moped, we're 6 survivors of the zombie apocalypse inside a van, going to an abandoned hangar to find two guys. Everything we say gets heard, unless someone is sleeping or you're in the shower. Keeping secrets doesn't make much sense."
"That's deep, Jess. Anyway, Choc. She's cool and everything, but..."
"You don't know if she likes you?"
"Bingo."
"Well, let me just tell you one thing. When you get a shift with her, only her - or her and one of us, tell her that. Who knows, she may have the same feelings for you."
"The always optimistic Jess, isn't it?"
"Moped, listen here. I am the exact opposite of Jess when it comes down to stuff - kinda pessimistic, and possibly cynical. But I agree that in this situation, there's nothing to lose except maybe some giant UST."
"G, TVTropes affected your vocabulary."
"Damnit!"
"Uh, Jess, how do you know how to go to Tucson?"
"The knuckle dusters and the trailer were given to me by a crazy old man at a supermarket. There's a GPS in it and also a pistol, besides some ammo to it. There's also some solar panels on the top of this."
"Oh, so the sattelites aren't fucked up."
"They were made to last decades. Of course what happens on Earth doesn't affect them, so for they it's like they've lost their signal except for some stuff."
"Great."
"So, uh, do you guys want corn with the rice?"
"Yeah, that'd be interesting."
"Put it on, G!"
Soon we were eating the dinner, which took me around 30 minutes to do so. After Moped finished, he started driving. Choc was surely a bad driver, but it seemed that Jess, Moped and Ex were the rule, rather than the exception. I wasn't really a good driver - nor was Liara - but considering that, before the zombie apocalypse happened, I had 3 years left to get my driving license, it actually made a bit of sense that I couldn't drive well.
"G, could you play anything? It's getting boring."
"Right."
Until my turn, I played quite a bit of stuff, despite asking for 15 minutes to warm up. I hadn't played for 5 days, and that wasn't really good for my skills, but considering that we were on the middle of the zombie apocalypse, I think playing the bass wasn't exactly in my list of "Stuff I have to do now".
Around 30 minutes after I started driving, I heard steps. Then someone turning the shower on. Then someone taking a shower. You get the point.
"Who's woken up?"
"Choc."
"She woke up? Make sure she gets some coffee, we don't want any crashes when it's her turn."
"I don't think the lack of coffee is the reason why she drives so bad, G."
Choc left the bathroom 10 minutes after, despite the bath having ended 5 minutes before that. I guess magnificient hair must take a long time to get right. But I never really cared for my looks, so I really can't say anything.
"Uhm, do we have any eggs?"
"I dunno. G, do we have any eggs?"
"Go check that yourself, Choc, I'm trying to take us to Tucson!"
One quick check in the refrigerator and a 2 minutes after, Choc was having fried eggs.
"So, why are we going to their hangar to Tucson? Just to save two guys?"
"You saved me, Ex and Liara, Choc. Now we have to do the same thing for these two."
"Are they even alive?"
"If they aren't, we can pick ammo and guns there."
"I could use some dual pistols."
"Everyone could use any kind of weapon. Using a bass isn't exactly a really good weapon. Nor is fighting zombies with your barefeet. I guess as a backup, they work, and fighting with a katana is cool and all, but not exactly what I consider 'safe combat'."
"I agree."
"Uh, G, isn't it Choc's turn already? And I want to sleep, so I'm going."
After he said that, Jess poked me with his elbow. It was kind of annoying, but I understood what he meant.
"I agree."
We stopped the car, and Choc took over the wheel.
"See you guys later!"
"Right."
Moped stayed in the room. Jess smiled. I went to sleep, knowing I had done a good deed today.
Commentary on why Ex and Liara aren't in this chapter:
This was supposed to give the rest of the group a little bit more of depth, mainly because the chapters were a bit too Liadra-focused. Honestly, Moped and Choc are difficult to write, and Jess actually shares a quite a bit of me, but he's far more friendly. So this would be a filler chapter if it wasn't for the fact that I wanted to give everyone a distinct personality before moving to J, Law and more action.
