For the Infusion Altar + Hopper contraption (this is entirely thought based - 0 testing done so far)

Couldn't you use vacuum hoppers from (openblocks/extra utilities, i always confuse the two) near each corner, and pipe them out with Impulse Itemducts/bc pipes to the nearby pedestals?

Also, do the pedestals all have to make one circle, or can I stagger them (to make a star) or make multiple rings out of them (just for aesthetics at this stage)?
No, they don't have to be in one circle, as long as there is one at the same position 180 degrees around the other side of the altar. (Thus people make circles because they're easy to do aesthetically and fulfill this)
That's the only place it checks to calculate stability with pedestals.

So, go to town with your staggered pedestals and whatnot

Are their any thaumcraft addons that add something like a Thaumic mop for dealing with the taint in a way that doesn't involve cobble or block breakers? That would be useful (maybe their could even be a mop golem)

Do pistons work on it? With or without blocks?

I think so based on a kirindave episode from last season that I almost remember. That was for gas taint on the ceiling though but the same may apply on the floor
A terrain smasher works for crucible taint, so I guess it would do just as well for infusion pedestals. It would be a bit ugly, as they have to point sideways at the block, it would be better to have them above pointing down. Is there a block breaker that can point down? Ooh, Steve's Factory Manager could do it, as that can be camouflaged or even invisible.

Steve's factory manager is a great idea actually, I think that in addition to being made invisible they can have be set to not collied as well which would be handy. Although this possibly isn't a problem for SFM block breakers, I want to avoid block breakers like the terrain smasher because they are a bit ugly in that context and they break immersion.

Speaking of Steve's factory manager, I saw Saice do a build where he had a growthcraft rice farm and all the rice was collected hopper style by some specialised inventory cables. I wonder if it would be possible to have items that get knocked off the pedestal to be collected by those specialised inventory cables and returned to a pedestal?

Yes, I can't remember what it's called (might be Item Relay) but there's a block that treats the 5x5x5 area around it as an inventory. Pipe or hopper out of it, and the items are extracted. I use them in my mana bean farm, with the ducts set to only pull mana beans, so anything else dropped on the floor stays there.

Aight, so basically it's a game of connections. You put aspects in the slots to connect the aspects already there. To "connect" you have to place aspects that either make up or are made up of the aspect already there. So basically make a string of aspects related to each other. To remove an aspect from a slot, right click it.

In addition to what MoosyDoosy said, you should aim for research expertise and research mastery first. Once you have those you can see the composition of compound aspects while inside the research table (I think you hold shift while hovering over an aspect to see this). Instead of it being a total memory/guessing game from then on, you get absolutely all the information you need to complete it from the puzzle which simplifies things somewhat.

I believe that's Item Valve, the range is 3*3 same as vacuum hopper, but item valve also work as block placer and can right click (planting)

So a question on golems then...

I know they can be derps and get pathing issues, but I think I want to use them instead of essentia tubes for the time being.

How high up can a golem with the alchemy thingie reach? I'm used to having a furnace and 5 imbalics on top, could he reach the top one?

Would I have to use a shorter set up?

The golem draws from all alembics on the furnace stack, I'm not entirely sure on their depositing reach, but it will pull from the alembics as you want

Cool...

I'm invisioning a stack in the corner of a room with jars along the walls to avoid pathing issues, or maybe I'll just have a room with the alembics in the middle surrounded by jars and grab the jars manually to do infusion.
