I am really only using the videos as an extra, however, I will stop posting as many videos soon probably, and more use pictures as I just figured out Imgur and how to make albums and so on.

I'm a big fan of flickr myself and the yearly cost for unlimited is dirt cheap.

There are a number of us who work very hard to produce youtube content who respect the wishes of the site admins in restricting our promotional activities to the appropriate forum. It would be a very appealing idea for me to post a 'build blog' thread in the general forums and litter it with video links/embeds but we've been asked not to do so. Ultimately it's your call on what to do and the site admins call on what, if any, response that merits, but from one user to another, 'stop posting as many videos soon' might look better if it was reworded to, 'if I have any more videos to post I'll make sure to put them in the appropriate section.'

I originally started this thread as a build blog, to encompass pictures, and the occasional video tour, granted the 2 Video Tours I've done have been quite close together but I do not do it dor advertisement, i'm doing it to show a video tour, The video tours will be very rare, hence why this would not be suitable to go into the Youtube Advertisment section. I also know a lot of people work very hard to produce youtube content, I have been doing youtube for what must be 6 years now, started with vlogging, to CoD, then to editing, which is how I received my partnership and 1,300 subs. And now onto minecraft, I put a lot of hard work into my base and also my videos, but I am not wishing to advertise them here only to use them as a video tour, which I would happily upload the raw file for, but that just seems pointless. I'm not trying to hate, and I understand where you are coming from, just this was never intended as an advertisement.

From now on it will be Pictures and then every massive update, maybe every week or so will be a new video which I will embed in the front page first post, and not put in a new reply. Hence to not bump the thread nor draw attention to the fact that it is a video.

you could always do your build log post thing here.

And if you has much in the way of youtube content put that stuff over in the youtubers area.

Win Win all around.

Personaly Im thinking when 1.5 comes around and I restart some project I'll most likely run my thread over in the community showcase thread since it seems more the palce for these sorts of things.

That does seem like a good idea, I think maybe once we've got a lot more done we might move the thread over, or restart the thread with a bit more format maybe?

I personally don't think it matters what your intentions are. "Oh, I'm just showing a video tour, not advertising." "Oh, I'm just showing people how to build inchworm drives, not advertising." "Oh, I'm just showing people how much fun me and my friend have, not advertising." If everyone is required to abide by the rules, then I'm pretty sure that 'everyone' includes you. There's no caveat in the requirement to post your video links in the youtube section. It doesn't say, "...unless you're just posting a video tour." Unique snowflakes being what they are and all, being shunted off into some obscure corner of the forums hurts content producers but helps the community overall by limiting the amount of spam that gets barfed all over the other subforums. It's hard to argue that I'm more important than the community as a whole whether I appreciate what the rule means for me or not. I do, however, take issue with folks who consider themselves exempt from the rules because they are somehow different. Post your blog, post your details, post your images, and the community will enjoy. Videos go elsewhere.

Well I apologise for any offence caused, once again, I never wished for videos to be the main focus of this thread not even a small focus.

To me, it seems kind of silly how people are freaking out over this. I thought the videos were a pretty nice addition, and I would probably prefer them to pictures given the choice.

The difference is that nobody has been asked to restrict the posting of pictures to a different subforum, but the posting of videos has been given such a restriction and those of us who have been respecting that request from the site admins really only ask that the rule be applied uniformly. That means no exceptions, or if there are to be grounds for exceptions, that those grounds be made clear and available to everyone.

Would appreciate it if you all would stop arguing about this on my thread, its my thread and it abides to the rules very thinly, hence why It hasn't been removed, So please, and thankyou.

Saice I was reading the post before and I'm sorry I didn't realize it was talking about you I know people tend to blow things out of proportion around here. Enigmas thanks for clearing that up I am all about following the rules.

I realy do not see my replays here as "freaking out"
Oh no, I wasn't talking about you. You were actually very nice about your concerns i'd say. No offense to enigmus, but his reaction wasn't as well worded and kind of seemed a little bit on the "freaking out" side in my opinion.
