while testing my modpack, I ran across one of the new thaumcraft WIP structure thingies.

What I wasn't expecting was these guys...

Reminds me of those structures from TC2. I wonder if they will have a similar function.

There's an unimplemented portal that may be related to those structures. We shall see.

Is that the Misa texture pack? Haven't seen that in ages!
Yep (although slightly tweaked). The only texture pack I can play with. I just then borrow from other packs or do my own thing for a bit of mod support.

Although, quite amusing, that particular structure was right next to a sewage pool. Eventually they all fell into it, and were left at half health. Easy to deal with then (if I wasn't in creative :p)

What?! Spells and arcana so forbidden that the universe deems fitting to send squads of 1-7 Eldritch guardians that spawn under your feet not dark enough ehh?


Never before has takeing a bath been so important, I kind of panic now when my warp ward is about to ware off.

Hmm, yeah I kind of don't blame you... It is a rather annoying mechanic if you don't wholly focus on Thaumcraft. I am always getting jumped by Eldritch hit squads when my head is in a UI. They go from scary to fucking irritating pretty fast, here I am tweaking my Big Reactor turbine trying to get it running 100% !THENALLOFASUDDEN6GUARDIANSATTACK! -DEAD- all while I'm wildly tapping the shit out of esc to close the windows and run.

The debuffs are manageable with a Talisman of Remidium from TT but it cleanses warp ward leaving me open to those blasted eldritch guardians.

It feels like Azanor is trying to ward people away from the mod, like he thought "My mod's too fun... I should remedy that".
Frankly if he insists on keeping the warp thing all he needs to do is tweak how the Eldritch hit squads spawn, they shouldn't spawn 7 of them under your feet they should spawn 50-100 blocks away. Once I had 8 guardians moaning at my door as 2 hit squads came out in quick succession.
At least they are a good source of auram...

I've seen other posts that I agree with, in that the mod seems to be being nerfed from a power user perspective. Not all of us abuse mods like Direwolf or other Forgecraft people. I'm a casual player. I can't justify playing a mod that already had already turned into "magical Gregtech" giving me constant debuff just for using things. Its not worth my time. I'm not a wuss, I'm a casual player. Incessant mob attacks, blindness, and other random debuffs will only work to keep people away from the mod.

I hate mechanics that keep you from going AFK, with hunger being the one possible exception, and then only for HQM challenge maps. And even then I would prefer that there be a high level, expensive way to overcome the mechanic once you've paid your dues, as it were. The way I read this, if you're a Thaumcraft player, there's no way to just go AFK at your Pam's Harvestcraft MFR farm while you eat dinner and clean the kitchen because you might return to being dead at the hands of a hit squad. Unless, of course, you turn off a bunch off mod mechanics in the config.

Thank god for the RF powered wand of equal trade in EnderTech and powered bee/tree tools. I'm completely uninterested in the direction TC is taking these days.

To be fair, there's configs but some random debuffs still occur like fogginess. If I'm honest though, you bring up a great point. There's literally nothing that Thaumcraft offers that I can't get elsewhere now. Especially with endertech. I may actually just rip it out, its more annoying to craft things than its worth. But I love the aesthetics. grrrr.

Also with the latest version of TC4 there is that soap that removes the warp that spawns the guardians. You still get the debuffs though, you need warp ward or the Talisman of Remidium for that.

Actually Azanor should add a special warp negation nexus that makes an area effect zone where warp events can't happen, maybe it has to be fed with cognito essentia to function or make it deep in the eldritch tab.
